TBH I'm not sure.
For some teams he definitely has negative value. I could see someone paying something for him, but I don't think it would be significant.

Market won't be big for him because of his injury history. But if he does get traded and he can stay healthy, the team getting him will have gotten a steal.

I don't think the return will be an equivalent player. I think the Senators will want to fill both the middle 6 C and #4-5 D spots with the trade.
I also think that a big part of the value coming to Ottawa will simply be getting out of the Norris contract. They have very little cap flexibility moving forward and clearly want to make changes to the lineup that Dorion and Melnyk built.

Never want to see Karlsson on a Sens jersey again unless it's during his retirement. His defensive play has deteriorated and he is not worth the price tag.

Realistically, which teams out there would be willing to take on the risk of that Norris contract? Out of desperation for a Top-6C.
-Philly maybe? But they've also already got the Couturier danger contract on the books.
-Minnesota could use another Top-6C to complement JEE, especially if they're not that high on Rossi despite finally finding something. They also already have all those liabilities with the Suter/Parise buyouts on the books.
-Nashville? They just went wild spending on old guys that they're not committed to for better or worse though.
-Utah? Seems like a prospective fit, if they want to make a big swing, and they have the space to do it. Just a matter of cobbling together the "value", or assessing whether they'd really be open to taking on that risk instead of other opportunities that have opened up to them with new ownership that has money to spend.
-Columbus? Seems like they'd probably prefer to just wait on their young guys at this point, to solve things internally.
-Buffalo? Seems like they might be interested to an extent, but they didn't seem keen on paying Mittelstadt like that, so i'm not sure why they'd be into a much riskier contract of that type for a 2C.
-Chicago? Another one that'd probably prefer to just overspend on filler in the short-term and hope that their young guys fill in that 2C role in time. Rather than getting stuck in with Norris' deal long-term.
-St.Louis? Would sort of fit with their "retool" accelerated rebuild type plan, and they've shown they're not afraid to make waves with somewhat "risky" offer sheets.

It's just such a weird scenario where...the contract isn't bad at all if Norris is healthy. But it's hard to have much faith in that continuing to be the case over the duration. So it's a huge chunk of change to commit to a guy who...might spend significant periods of time not being available.

What is your basis for saying his shoulder injuries look to be behind him now? He basically spent all of training camp in a non contact jersey despite having the entire offseason to heal up.
Well if you watched him this season you would see he is way more engaged and doesn’t shy from physical contact. Non contact jersey was probably “abundance of caution”.

It's been answered by someone else, but basically he looks more engaged physically and no longer worried about his shoulder. Even last year when he came back, you could tell he was worried at the very least.
I could be wrong of course, but his body language and overall play look more like a healthy player than the injured Norris we know all too well.
