Yashin was a C iirc
This is true, Yashin more talent, but Norris more reliable in the clutch moments it seems

Wtf...

Yashin was 2nd in hart voting as a center for Ottawa
Duchene wasn't here long but put up 58 pts in 50 games his last year.
And Chris tierney had more assists than Stone... :sarcasm:

Duchesne I guess you could consider him but he didn’t put in the time IMO to be on the list of best C for the team. Like Hasek, and some other rentals I don’t consider them real Sens you gotta put in at least 250 games to be on the list

And what clutch moments has Norris been in? I'll wait.

If Clutch is a factor, Turris is likely easily ahead of Norris.

Hard to credit a guy that's never seen a meaningful game past January as being reliable in clutch moments.

I was dead wrong about Norris's comeback from injury. When he went for surgery #3 on that shoulder I thought his career was finished. He would come to camp, attempt to play, but the shoulder wouldn't hold up and he would end up like Oskar Klefbom and be on Robidas Island the rest of his career. Huge shoutout to that surgeon who saved that shoulder, because the odds were not in his favour. So happy for the guy, as he has been on a really rough journey the last two seasons dealing with all of this...

I mean I think as a hockey harvest you can tell who’s clutch and who’s not when you’ve watched to many Sens games. You can certainly say Brian Lee was not lurch from his time here; and because you can say that then you can say the opposite and find players that seem to have the skill in those pressure moments.

Norris has that clutchiness IMO. Must win game and he scored both and one in the final minute - call it what you want but he shows up when the team needs him

Do you have a giant wheel of WTF things to post, spin it all day and smash nose beers?

I don’t come here to be an asshole, I'm here to talk about the Sens

Norris is behind
-Yashin
-Bonk
-Turris
-Fisher
-Pageau

Talent wise he might be ahead of Fisher and Pageau, but some of these guys were just plain better (Yashin), better at their role (Fisher, Bonk), much better defensively (Pageau), or did everything Norris did but stay healthy (Turris).

Norris can end up surpassing each of those guys, but he needs a couple of seasons of full health and the same play he has right now.

I tend to agree, a bigger Turris is a good comparable.

Turris played way more on the outside and found his space along the boards, but they seem to have that same speedy, big shot game at C. Also use wingers pretty well and Turris had chemistry with everyone form Alfie to Ryan and Norris seems to be an easy player for eveyone to play with

For me :

1- Stutzle (projecting there of course)
2- Spezza
3- Yashin
4- Turris
5- Fisher
6- Norris
Etc

With a bit more time and if he stays healthy, Norris will end up 4th on that list

PPG is like this :

Spezza, Yashin, Duchene (only 118 GP though), Stutzle, Turris, Norris, T. White, Smolinski, Bonk, Zibanejad, Fisher, Brassard, Vermette, Pinto, Tierney, C. White, Pageau...

And Norris already has the 3rd best GPG in Sens history among Centers behind Yashin and Duchene.

Tarasenko probably gave him a lot of hope last year.

Norris definitely reminds me of Turris

Yeah I compared them before, 2-way centers who play on 200 ft, better at scoring goals than playmaking. Norris is at Turris level right now but before his injuries he was heading towards Ryan Kesler's level. He had 47 goals in 91 games, which was 12th best in the NHL for that stretch, and he did that at 21-22 y/o while playing a full 2-way game at Center and facing top competition every night on a rebuilding team.

If he can get back to that level, it could certainly be key for this rebuild.

I love the discussion. This guy needs more love.

Obviously Yashin as others have pointed out, but I think he will end up 4th if he gets to stick around.

I 100% agree he has a clutch factor. He needs some bigger games to prove it, but he has that magic.

I enjoyed his post-game with Claire Hanna, telling the fans to keep on coming cause it’s gonna get better. He has a calming confidence to him.

sell high?
For what?

Who fills in for 2C? It would be a step backwards to lose this guy now.

He is 25 games in to his return and playing well with room to grow. It's lunacy to want to move this guy IMO.

He is the type of player you win with.

We can't afford to trade any good forward...

1st liners : Stutzle, Tkachuk, Batherson

2nd liners : Giroux (but 36 y/o), Norris (but long injury history)

3rd liners : Pinto (had 3 pts in first 5 games, got injured and has been pointless for 11 games), Perron (36 y/o but due to personal problems and injuries has zero point), Greig (but is only 22 y/o and in his sophomore season)

Amadio, Cousins and Gregor are better if they're on your 4th line. Same with Gaudette even though he has the 2nd most goals on the Sens right now

So we're missing a Top-6 forward, we have 2 young Top-9 forwards struggling and a veteran who can't contribute due to injuries/problems

We have too many problems in the Top-9

As much as I'd love to get out of the Norris contract you're right. Not to mention literally zero potential top 6 forwards in the system.

Forgot to mention it but yeah, we need to add Top-9 forwards and potential Top-9 forwards, not remove them.

As weird as it sounds, defense and goaltending are fine at the moment, plus Yakemchuk is coming in a year or two.
