The most fair call would’ve been a double minor. Refs had to go under or over. If it hadn’t drawn blood, maybe they let it go as a minor.

It wasn’t dirty. Boeser tapped Manson in the chest. Manson hit back right at his own chest height and Boeser happened to be hunched. Penalty, yes. Dirty, no.
See, I think is a fine take. The next-level animosity that creeps up here on HF when it’s Avs-Nucks is so odd to me. I find I’m adding one or two Avs posters to my ignore list each time (it’s likely I’ve already blocked the Canucks agitators long ago).

It feels like there’s more inanity than Flames vs Canucks or Oilers vs. Canucks.

Anyways, this is just to say thank you for a measured and reasonable take. Good luck this year.

I agree that 5 was too much but it should’ve been a double minor.

Boeser looking like Garland standing next to Manson from this angle is the best part of this sequence.

It is a bad call. But why do people think it matters if he looks at him or not? He knows he is there.

Live look of Boeser trying to get his revenge next game :sarcasm:

Do people really believe that a hockey player is unable to do something unless they're looking directly at the action?

Whatever you think about the penalty, "he wasn't even looking" is about the dumbest reasoning given the skillset needed to play the game.

Manson knew what he was doing and lightly popped him in the face. Obviously hard enough to draw blood or loosen a couple teeth, but not hard enough to do any lasting damage.

As a Canucks fan, that's worth 4mins for high sticking (drawing blood) as I can appreciate he wanted to pop Boeser but also appreciate the he didn't drill him in the face like a psycho.

There must be a lot of tough posters here claiming they wouldn't drop after getting a stick across the face. That's a normal instinctive reaction to any damage to your face. It's actually incredibly difficult not to react that way. So yeah, Boeser was faking.

Been cross-checked in the face. Can confirm it (a) is surprising and (b) hurts. Pretty light one, probably looked a lot like that, and it broke my nose.
