Player Discussion: Josh Ho-Sang

I love the Point Blank Podcast, but what a turn of events. Ho-Sang will dress in Dallas when one of their commentators said repeatedly he will never wear an Islanders uniform a few days ago. Talk about bad intel. Ho-Sang gets into trouble in the defensive and neutral zone, he gets too creative, however below the below the blue line he's a great player.

I loved it when we drafted him... We will see what happens, but he has been a favorite prospect of mine for a long time before our Islanders even drafted him. I hope he does not let me down tomorrow. I've followed him a long time, I know what he is capable of. But the juniors, AHL, is a lot different from the NHL.

There was a time when he was ranked higher than McDavid in midgets

It is up to him, I just hope he gives us his best shot

ya ho-sang will be the best forward of all time im pretty confident in it
real talk im excited to finally see this kid play

I wonder where he will play. My guess is Ladd moves to the Nelson-Strome line and Beauvillier moves to Center and Ho Sang and Chimera play wing

When and why did the Dallas announcer say that? I hope isles twitter is giving it to him.

Start him on the first line with Tavares and Lee, lol!!!!

Unfortunately he's destined to be stuck with scrubs since they aren't going to break up the first line right now and the rest of our roster ain't legit.

Prince - Nelson - Ho Sang

"The Rock Star line".

Okay, maybe stretching that term just a wee bit for "Nelson".

Just as a refresher for those of you that haven't seen it in a while...Or never saw it.

That's a big IF, lol. Would involve Nelson actually skating :help:

His assists totals would hint otherwise.

I think you're missing the point. Ho-Sang is very well known for being a puck hog. He holds the puck, skating in circles looking for the perfect pass, which often leads to turnovers. It's well documented as his biggest on-ice weakness.

Definitely caught that, brushed him off and kept it moving...

Probably figured he won't be around by the time I get the call.

Cappy like rolled his eyes too

I mentioned this in other thread but man I am glad he is gone. He ruined the development of our young fwd's

Weight has been the man with the forward group I hope his success continues.

No one suppressed young unrefined talent like Capuano. The fact we have to protect Pulock is maddening considering he could have been playing with us back when Strait was getting the nod and he'd still be a 3rd year pro.

Let's look forward to better days, I think Weight and Ho-Sang could have an outstanding mentor-student relationship.

I know this is premature, but Ho-Sang play making style is pretty reminiscent of Weight if Josh can produce at NHL level.

Whiner, you try skating and have two guys on your back every game, slashing you, and grabbing your sweater.

I think he was referencing Mario's old tendency of signing Cell Block D and not complaining about players like Matt Cooke and James Neal maiming people for seasons until the Isles had enough of it and alleywhipped them.

He did make some fairly pompous statements about "the state of the game" at the same time he was writing Cooke's checks.

I digress; I am psyched as hell for Ho-Sang. The Stars aren't in the best shape at the moment and as long as the kid keeps his head on a swivel (I recall Mark Fistric concussing a certain draft error a few seasons ago in Dallas) and uses his linemates well, here's hoping for some points right out of the gate.

Why are so many isles fans up in steam about him wearing #66? Honestly screw Mario Lemieux, he was a perpetual whiner.

Mario was a great player, I personally think skill wise he was the greatest ever. but this nonsense that nobody can wear 66 or 99 for that matter is ridiculous.

how about the NHL take 9 or 4 out of circulation? how can we allow Denis Seidenberg to wear bobby Orr's # 4??

Yeah but now with NHL'ers they will get open faster too and he will be more confident distributing.

We don't really know how it will play out on NHL ice yet, but I've watched Ho-Sang for years... I have a hard time imagining that problem went away in half a season @ Bridgeport and that it will magically disappear when he steps on the ice Thursday.

Ho-Sang will still have a tendency to over-handle the puck and make the perfect play and it will get him in trouble. The difference now, I think, is that Weight is the much better coach to help break that habit (than Cappy). It may take a few years, but he's shown improvement so I have confidence he can continue to grow out of it.
