Value of: Josh Anderson to a contender

nothing right now thats for sure he had a horrible start he finally picked it up lately but he comes with a big contract so hes gonna need to step it up if we want something back in return

sucks because ive seen some games where he completely dominates with hes big hits and speed but hes sooo inconsistent hes not worth that contract today

As much as I would love this it comes down to a bad NHL player has more value than a bad AHL player. Also Montreal is running 3 goalies so I don't see them taking Campbell at all. I also forgot Anderson makes more so Montreal would have to retain for 3 years and that cost as well. B prospect + 3rd + 2nd or 3rd for the retention
I would put  Bourgault or Lavoie in play instead of a B prospect if Habs can help make the cap work

For half retained there may be a market, although not sure it’s to a contender. With double retention he could be a positive asset

Yeah, Montreal would get rid of him for free, but they’re not at the stage in their rebuild where they’d pay to free up his cap space.
Well, I'm not sure they'd trade him for future considerations... he's still a useful asset and the team is low on forwards overall. If Stephens and Pezzetta are playing, it's because management doesn't see any prospects as being ready anyways.
With a rising cap and fewer years on his deal, he'll become increasingly attractive. Maybe never up to what Habs fans might hope, but positive value.

If he was cheaper I'd be interested from Boston.

Really liked his game with Columbus years ago but haven't watched him much over the past 2 season and seems like he's fell off a cliff.
I was a big fan also when he was in Columbus, but I do think injuries have hurt his production, but if healthy he would be just what the doctor would order for the Bruins.

I wonder if fans from other teams realize he was Habs' player of the month in December.

He is overpaid but still useful, power forwards who don't slow down their teams are rare.
13 games in Dec.
Josh in Dec: 6g 9pts -3
Suzuki in Dec: 5g 14 pts -2

i believe it works with stars awarded but still…

Lol if I'm Vancouver I'd still want to move Garland to him. Could use his skillset in the trenches of the playoffs.

I know these two teams don't deal with each other often, but what would Montreal want from Boston, and don't get goofy.............haha

As a hab fan these Anderson threads are always so dumb to me. He ain't hurting us at all and is of benefit to our squad. I like him on our team and am in no rush to move him. The guy is pretty much a lock for around 20 goals a season and brings speed, physicality and leadership to our young team. He's worth more to us then a draft pick, even a late 1st.

Scoff if you want but it's just the truth.

Y'all don't like him or his contract? I don't give a damn, I'm glad he's ours. I'm sure Hughes and MSL are as well.

Wouldn't surprise me a bit if Hughes did infact turn down a 1st. That pick ain't replacing what he brings. Odds are the pick doesn't even produce an NHL'er.

LMAO at having to add an asset to move a player we gladly keep. He ain't going anywhere unless it's a deal that makes sense and actually makes us better.

Well, I won't suggest specific assets, but here is my framework:
1-something that helps the rebuild. Picks, G or forward prospects, etc.
2- An expriring or near expiring contract.

If the contract is a useful player perhaps the pick is less, if the player is a pure cap dump, then the pick is better.

I think too many Habs fans have started too many threads suggesting a high value for him, and fans of other teams mostly see a highly paid forward who doesn't produce much. His drought this season cemented, in many minds, that he's overpaid filler.

That being said, I agree with you that he's a good fit in Montreal, and I like him to keep Slafkovsky from having to be the *only* physical forward.

Edit: corrected autocorrect's bad correction for "only".
