The chances to draft an Anderson with a late first-round pick are so low that I would just keep him.
I mean if we trade Anderson, we are weaker now, and therefore should fall in the standings - hence giving us a better shot at Bedard/Fantelli/Mishkov/Carlesson/WIll Smith.

I know the drill but Anderson is signed for 4 more years and I don't think he's tipping the victory balance that hard

True, but if we move Anderson and Savard?
I don't think the return will be worth it, honestly, I'm not expecting much if Monahan and Edmundson are not healthy... Those were the biggest chips we had... sucks they got injured...

Yes, now the biggest chips are Anderson, Savard, and Matheson.

Each only goes for a 1st+

Amusingly, Anderson is a 4th round pick. Late 3rd round now since two teams have been added since he was drafted.

Such an insane fetish for picks. It seems there are those who lose interest in them once they become players and lust for new picks. Someone is playing great? IMAGINE HOW MUCH SEXIER HE WOULD BE IF HE WAS A PICK! Someone is 23? TOO OLD, TRADE HIM FOR A PICK! Future #1D? NOT AS FUTURE AS THE PICK YOU CAN TRADE HIM FOR!

Insanity.

Habs can't keep all the ones they have now.
Well hell...let's stock up on more of them!

Kudos to our coaching staff for the job they are doing!
Impressive when you see the depleted roster.
Also, to see all the young D developing and not being overwhelmed. Robidas has done a good job.
There isn't one player on the current roster who gives a shit about the upcoming draft.
They get paid to give it their all.
I hope the Habs end up with a great pick but when I tune in, I want a win. You can't unprogram that in a true fan.

Yeah, and Datsyuk was a 6th round pick... but those are extremely rare! When you get em you keep them.
You don't think one of Bedard, Fantelli, Mishkov, or Carlesson would be huge for the rebuild?
I don't think getting rid of Anderson will make this team plummet into the standings to a point that we double our chances in the lottery.

We'll have a chance at all those players you listed anyways.

Same. I root for the win when I watch, can’t help it.

Self-preservation reflex to wanting Bedard has me watching only highlights except for 1 or two games since December haha

edit - also I think the older you are the less a “potential net positive player in 4 years” sounds sexy. I hope they make the playoffs next year with a few rookies progressing, everyone healthy and some big—time players signing for all that deadwood money.

Whether he fits the window, my main interest is in weakening the team this year to get one of the star forwards in this draft.

Still 1/3 of the season left to drop in the standings.

But if he doesn't get traded, I'd really like to see him hit 25 goals, or get back to 27. With all the chances he's getting playing with RHP, it's doable.
It's too late for that, we won't get into the top 4

I've been hard on Anderson (or fair :dunno: ) but i like the progress we've seen in his game this year.

I hope he finishes the year healthy and gets to enjoy a solid offseason focused on rest & then continued work on his game. While big progress in the late 20's is not the norm, it does happen. With his physical attributes and effort level, if he's getting strong development support from the habs & is dedicated to it, he might just find a whole other level of impact.

we certainly need a guy like him in our top-6 for the next 3-5 years, will be interesting to see what next season holds for him
