I don't think i even want MacDermid on the team. He played less then 10 mins last night and wasn't that impressive imo. Him playing so little makes every other defense man play more mins. This will wear down all our defense a lot faster then it should. However i would call him up for teams like Calgary
Personally I'd be happy with MacDermid making the team as a 7/8. He adds toughness that we lack in the backend. In terms of his ice time that you brought up I'm not too worried about it. Matt Greene averaged 13min TOI last season , if you take away the scrap MacDermid had he'd be around that mark.
I think Ladue Folin and Fantenberg all had better preseasons. I would rather carry a extra forward then a defense man that can't take a regular shift. I agree we need more toughness in certain games. With Ontario being so close i can see him coming up for games we need toughness (ducks flames ) but getting more mins in Ontario to work on his overall game. I think we are beyond the point of having a tough guy for just being a tough guy He needs to be able to play the game as well.
with no waivers to worry about It should go on merit and to me defense man who have played 20 mins in a preseason should make the team over one that has played maybe 14 mins. Yes hes tough and can fight. However the coach don't trust him to play more mins he shouldn't make the team.
