Do we have a list somewhere of which goalies making the minimum this offseason? Would they be worth risking the chance they don't play well here just to shave 2 mill off the cap?
I mean in a cap world it just depends what you value. If they (or you) are okay paying 11 mil to a tandem that is working, that's completely fine.

I on the other hand think I'd rather risk a less than stellar backup at min money (or 1 to 1.5 mil) and spend that money up front instead, especially if you can turn Korpi into another asset.

Looks like the bruins #1 goalie at this point. I don’t even see how it can be debated. This team can’t score. So they can’t afford to let in 4-5 goals a game. Seems korpisalo should be taking the reins for the time being.

I'd wager both guys will get a decent taste of the next 8 games. Maybe a 5 to 3 split. Possible Korpisalo's way.

The game vs. Winnipeg on Dec. 10th will tell the tale. If Korpisalo starts that game and plays well, he might get the bulk of the action between then and New Year's Day.

The hope is you get lucky with a league minimum signing (like Heinen) but you're probably more likely to end up with a dud (like Jones, Tufte) in net.

Take away Korpisalo's 4 wins and the Bruins are in last overall in the league. They're done. Even if they win their next 4 they'd be out of the playoff picture on Thanksgiving and that usually means no playoffs. (No playoffs means no playoff revenue.)

Is there a $2m forward ($1m for the backup, $2m forward = Korpi's $3m) they could have signed that would be such a difference maker that he'd give them 4 more wins in their first 20 games?

Swayman will get it together and be very solid for us this will be a very good 1-2 tandem going forward the goalie is really only as good as the team in front of them last night it was a good step forward if we play like that we will get the goaltending necessary to win games

I just don't think it's worth the risk of the new backup not working out here. If Korpisalo keeps consistent at around .911 SP and is able to spell Swayman when he's not playing well, he's worth the money spent.

I mean that's one way to look at it, but I see it as if they have 6 mil in cap space with Korpi, moving on from him could get you an 8 mil forward. That could be a big difference in talent and a difference maker for this team...plus again maybe you also can get an extra pick out of it in addition to that cap space.

They literally just took that risk with a 3mil backup in Korpi who was struggling and it paid off. I trust their talent evaluation in net at this point where I'd have no issue with them grabbing another guy making less, IF korpi can bring back some assets after the season

They took that risk because they had to - both Ullmark and Swayman wanted to be the #1 and play over 50 games and Swayman was due for a new contract. I don't see that same sort of need to get rid of Korpisalo if he continues to play well.

Korpisalo has obviously found his game (thanks Goalie Bob) and proving all the naysayers that he is a quality NHL goalie. Top 5, no, but as multiple teams have proved, EDM, VGK, you need a goalie that can make the important saves if not necessarily every save.
Korpi plays a lot like Ullmark and is a wall down low. I hope Swayman's ego allows him to recover and not brood, but Korpi's the better goalie right now. It only will help us if they push each other.
Swayman has shown nothing if not a great supportive teammate.

It's not necessarily a need and don't get me wrong I'm fine keeping him if he continues his play, I just think they have other holes to fill
