He made some nice saves last night and gave his team a chance to win, especially in moments where Philly could have extended the lead - but I'll be honest, some of the desperation saves made me nervous.

Same was said with Thomas when he started....

I actually think Korpisalo has played better than Swayman so far. Definitely made some bigger saves. Now I'm not saying he's better than Swayman, and the losing is most definitely not the fault of either goalie, but Swayman has been pretty average and definitely not playing like an 8 million dollar star goalie.

I think Korps has put in better effort performances so far but Swayman is obviously the more talented guy. It's time for him to start playing like it.

It’s only Philly but it’s looking like he is the better goalie so far.

Time to name Korpisalo the new starter?

Swayman’s last two starts:
45 shots | 36 saves .800

Korpisalo’s last two starts:
38 shots | 37 saves .973

May as well pull the trigger now before the season gets away on us.

Let's hope this shutout motivates Sway to start bringing his A game.

not sure how others felt this summer (and i'm too lazy to click earlier in this thread :)), but
korpisalo playing well isn't surprising - at least for me. he was good on the kings when they traded for him. i know some of his other numbers weren't inspiring in columbus or ottawa, but he should
be a pretty solid 30 game guy for boston. happy to see him doing well so far!

the trade itself still sucks, though, since he was a negative asset and sweeney bent over and took it from staios. but i think that's called "SPLIT MELK"

I hated it. He sucked imo and wasn’t great up until the past two games, but let’s face it was the flyers. Hopefully he continues to shine vs everyone.

He has the better save percent so far.

Hopefully Swayman gets back on top but if Korpisalo can keep giving us a chance to win with starts like the last three that would really help get this team back on track.

I’d be rolling with what ever goalie is hot. Korpisalo looks better at this point to me. I think he could be more of a 1b goalie than anyone is giving him credit for.

I think people rather he sucks so it fits their narrative. He is what his is but it looks pretty good so far.

And spare me with what he's getting paid, most of our roster is full of overpaid players.

Korpisalo a team player

Joonas Korpisalo fulfilled the backup goaltender’s role to a T on Tuesday night, snuffing out 17 of 18 Flyers shots in the Bruins’ 2-0 loss at the Garden.

Uncomfortably tight against the salary cap (slightly more than a million bucks in elbow room), one option for the Bruins could be to move Korpisalo and promote AHL Providence No. 1 Brandon Bussi to ride in Jeremy Swayman’s sidecar. The net savings would add $2.25 million in cap space.

Meanwhile, the job remains in the hands of Korpisalo, the 30-year-old Finn who began his career in Columbus, chosen 62nd overall by the Blue Jackets in the 2012 draft.

“Very talented, very well liked in the room,” recalled Panthers GM Bill Zito, who was the Blue Jackets’ assistant GM for much of Korpisalo’s time in Ohio. “When he won, he’d say it was the team, and when he lost, he’d say it was him, and it’s sincere. Hard worker. We won an [AHL] championship with him.”

Zito, prior to entering management with the Blue Jackets, owned and operated the Acme World Sports agency, whose clients over the years included Tim Thomas, Tuukka Rask, Korpisalo, and many others.

Bruins are confident they can reestablish the flow that is missing from their game

The championship was a Calder Cup title in the spring of 2016 with Lake Erie, where a 22-year-old Korpisalo and Anton Forsberg (now in Ottawa), 23, manned the net for coach Jared Bednar (now the Avalanche’s bench boss).

“Our season in Columbus ended, Korpisalo had played well for us there, and we sent him to Erie for more work,” explained Zito. “He started and we won the first series in a sweep, then we went up, 2-0, with him in the next series.”

When Round 2 vs. Grand Rapids was knotted at two wins apiece, Bednar opted to sit Korpisalo, who was 6-2, in favor of Forsberg, who logged a stellar 23-10-5 during the regular season. Forsberg went 9-0 the rest of the way en route to the Monsters clinching the Cup.

“And through it all,” recalled Zito, “Korpisalo was the consummate professional, team supporter. I was so impressed by the way he handled himself. He was a champ, he really was.”

He's our #1 until he isn't.

Swayman will be better when hes protected and in a 50-50 roll again anyway.

A little premature considering the level of the one opponent. Philadelphia isn't exactly an offensive juggernaut.
