What isn't true? That numbers don't need some sort of context?

What is untrue about Columbus being ranked a good offensive team? (8th overall)

I never said he wasn't.

That's the problem with this board sometimes. You can't provide any sort of constructive negative opinion without being jumped on or accused of hating on the player. I said in an earlier post I felt he's been playing well, but that comment just gets f***ing ignored by the masses.
The problem is certain posters are almost always negative - no balance and therefore I can’t take them serious and disregard anything they post.

They would complain about any topic not just hockey.

That's just it. It pains them to see Sweenius pull off a good deal they hated too. Can't give him any credit, because it means being happy.

When folks now tell me fire Sweeney & Neely I reply ‘why’?

Seriously messes them up. I realize

I got follow-up questions most common is who you hiring

Half say Bergeron which is hysterical

1. He’s got no experience
2. He has 4 young kids and is on record he is so busy sometimes he doesn’t even get to watch game on TV
3. He has said they are moving back to Quebec at some point

I’m not even going to start why Chara would be ridiculous

If you’re a Bruins fan you should have an understanding of this

I just ignore the permanently negative and the handful of folks who seem to revel in bad tidings. I get that we each "fan" in our own way, but that's not for me.

The always positive posters are as bad as the always negative ones in my opinion. I just look at each move the team makes on a case by case basis.

Korpisalo deserves credit for performing above expectations so far, for real. But it is also a small sample size and 100 years of hockey history tells us he will likely revert to his career average .900 save percentage over time. Even though he has started well, I still don’t think it was a good deal to take on that contract. Taking on $3M for 4 years for a 30 year old career .900 coming off an awful season in a hard cap league when you have a 25 year old ace about to sign will never be a good decision in my book.

Not sure about him returning to his career averages when he's playing behind this defense rather than what he had in Columbus or Ottawa.

I have not seen ONE on Bruins HF.

There are people who believe hockey is hockey, and it isn't life. I'm one of those. So for example I survived 2019 (and 22-23) much better than I survived 2013, because I have much more context in my life. The highs are high. But the lows are not as low (as when I was a kid).

Beyond that, even guys like DKH or people like Ladyfan, are not always positive. I've seen both of them point out issues. But what they are, are people comfortable in their own skin, who recognize that we got treated to great hockey going on well over a decade. We've truly been spoiled by this franchise, relative to what most others have seen in the cap era.

I don't think that's some sort of toxic positivity. That's just the best way to live. Gratitude is a vibe.

Thanks!

At this time in my life there are things going on that are so terrible that I will not let hockey be one of them.

Bruins have been pretty good for a number of years. We are spoiled.

What a weird dynamic. The season hasn't gone to plan thus far, and like clockwork the usual suspects here refuse to be honest with their evaluation of the team's on ice performance. To the point that they're actually taking a victory lap over a dude with a .909 SV%. Which is decent but not great, if again, we're being honest. Has he been better than last year in OTT? Sure thing, but who didn't expect that to happen given how shitty OTT is?

This is why this place is gold. So many posters who refuse to be even remotely close to honest because they have this imaginary battle ongoing in their heads of "positive posters" versus "negative posters". I don't get it. I've been both positive and negative over the years here based on how I've viewed the team and where they are. It doesn't change the fact that everyone wants the team to succeed.

and this defense has been playing well prior to Sacco? Wow, revisionist history there. Korpi kept us in games that we played D as badly as anybody in the league. Shots against and high danger chances were at the bottom or top depending on your purview.
He's not the best G in the league, but he's competitive real NHL goalie and people are still hung up on his price tag based after legit playing for crappy teams. LA proved what he is behind a good D team.

Think you misread that - I was saying we I think his numbers will stay strong playing behind this defense.

In the context of posters calling him the worst goalie in the league and ridiculing other posters who said Bob would help out his game, I'd say .909 and a 6-2-1 are a pretty nice surprise.

But he was the worst goalie in the league in terms of starters last year. People calling him that weren't making up some wild claim just to be dicks. It was factual. People all pretty much said he'd likely be better based on the upgrade of defense as well. If anything, most people critical of the deal weren't being contrarian, they were simply saying that the Bruins gave up the best player in the deal AND ate money coming back mainly for a late first round pick, which was a hefty price to pay for a pick. In that framework, it's still not a great deal even with Korpi playing as reasonably well as he has. In fairness to the full deal, Kastelic has been a decent throw in, but they already had a glut of bottom 6 players, so it wasn't like he was a necessary piece.

Linus Ullmark in Ottawa

2.93 , .891%. (and that's trending UP thanks to his last win).

Do you see what we were explaining? Korpi was never as bad as the Ottawa situation showed.
