I'm excited that everyone else is excited. I wanted the Canucks to pick the best player available and it sounds like Lekkerimaki was the BPA available to select at 15. His skating sounds like it needs some work but that could be taught, high hockey IQ, and incredible shooting ability can not. Love the potential of this pick, and very happy that Lekkerimaki is a Vancouver Canuck. Pretty cool that he wears 40 because of Pettersson and hopefully oneday they will become linemates. I live in the Okanagan and I am jealous that the Vancouverites get to see him play soon for the Giants.

Eitherway consider me happy, the Canucks got a good one here.

So did Horvat, and the Sedins.

If he was skating like Mcdavid he would be the #1 pick. He's not a bad skater by any means, and the kid doesn't turn 18 for another couple weeks.

Like I said I had this guy as a riser, I'm just shocked he fell to us.

From what I've watched now (very limited) he is actually exactly that. He is a bad skater.

That gives me hope. If his skating LOOKED efficient but he was still slow, I would worry more.

It's interesting that despite the Canuck's famously having dropped places or stayed the same because of the lottery system, the last 3 times they have picked in the first round, they have managed to pick a player rated higher than where they picked due to the choices of other teams. This year that was pretty evident because the consensus just wasn't there. This team has a strong Swedish scouting group and with the current regime having a Swedish GM, I think this will be a good pick and we will look back on it in a few years as a steal like Hughes, Pods and Petey if his comeback continues.

Potential 40 goal scorer, I would have never expected him to be available at 15.
Michael Grabner, Canuck first round pick @ 14th overall, hit 34 goals in one season (with the Fishsticks). And seriously have to assume Delorme had SOME input in the selection seeing as Grabner was playing in the WHL before he was drafted).

I wonder why he got so many assists (5 goals 10 assists in 6 games played) at the WJC-18 tournament. Could he have an underrated passing game that doesn't show itself because he's too busy scoring?

I'm good with the pick...seems like a very high end talent...but I would like to see us pick some guys with some size, grit and tenacity at some point.

Well how did he get his assits in WJCs?

Looked great in package. His skating looked okay for his age. His late birthday should be considered. A few months makes a big difference at this age. Wonder how he was thought of at the start of this year. Did he move up the ranks this year? Progress and trend is often more important than where a player is right now.
