Not a bad trade. A massive right shit blue liner on a dirt cheap deal. I'll take it. I'm sure his role will be as a 6th D man. 15 minutes a game with penalty killing time. Hopefully his game grows to where he can be a top 4 fill in guy if the team gets hit with injurie and not look too out of place.

This is by far the move I like the most from Fitz so far this offseason.

Kovacevic has had pretty solid impacts playing a 5D role with Montreal. His microstat profile is very interesting - he excels at what, IMO, are the two most important attributes in a defensemen: denying the zone and making clean, effective entries.

For the price paid, an absolute no-brainer.

And you just don't get it
We trade for Kovacevic

My college "band" only ever played once for people, four songs including "Bound for the Floor."

I caught Local H about a decade ago. Singer was annoyed at this one gal who was had her back to the stage taking selfies, so he reached over and grabbed her phone. Unfortunately her hair got entangled with his guitar neck in the process, so he yanked some of her hair when he walked off.

And I always think of this song whenever certain songs come on the radio.

If i had to sum up 90s grunge music.... pretty sure this local H song would provide an appropriate example.

Local H's As Good As Dead was transitional toward post-grunge 90s alternative. It had that grungy production quality in parts, but it really was more, to me, an early member of the post-grunge late 90s sound than the mid 80s-mid-90s grunge. Local H was definitely a Grunge band at its start though. As much as I loved grunge (and played it on WSOU-FM 94-96) I loved the Britpop stuff in the mid 90s and then the postgrunge alternative that led into the early 2000s when it all started to go to crap.

OK I'm a loser but this really only took 2 minutes:

Born to lock down
We’ve learned all our lessons before now
We never shut down
I think I’d got used to it

And you just don’t get it
We trade for Kovacevic
And you need to accept it
If not you’re so pathetic

And you don’t…
And you don’t…
And you don’t…
And you don’t…

We need to lock down
We’ve all said this before now
We cannot break down
Or what good is confidence?

And you just don’t get it
That’s why get Kovacevic
‘Cos he knows to accept it
Last year was so pathetic

And you don’t…
And you don’t…
And you don’t…
And you don’t…

AND YOU JUST DON’T GET IT
WE NEEDED KOVACEVIC
PROSPECTS LEARN TO ACCEPT IT
OR ELSE THEY’RE TOO PATHETIC

AND YOU JUST DON’T GET IT
WE TRADE FOR KOVACEVIC
AND YOU NEED TO ACCEPT IT
IF NOT YOU’RE SO PATHETIC
AND YOU JUST DON’T GET IT

With our forwards depth I will not be surprised if he will play 7D role on the ice.
It's an interesting theory. I liked it more with Smith who could actually put an effective shift in at forward and serve a role as a PK D, but they rarely actually used him that way. I'm less enthused by 7D when it's a real rotation. But I could buy an argument that Kovacevic taking 9 minutes away from the other 6 D and giving more minutes to our top forward leads to more wins than Bastian or Foote skating around for that same time.
