Comparable contracts needing to be cleared and return is about a 3rd or 4th.

Habs are currently up against this season. They will have $16M next year with Danault, KK, Armia, Lehk, and Tatar. Predicting a flat cap for the next 3 years, unlikely to have any improvement in a trade.

It's doubtful we ever contemplated retaining all of these players. Armia especially is a luxury #4 RW at this point, assuming none of our right wingers will play on his off-side.

If a team was interested in Drouin it would make sense to make a reasonable offer now, because the possibility of him bouncing back in this new Montreal roster is not insignificant IMO. Next year might be too late.

As a habs fan, we are way better off keeping him. Absolutely zero incentive to trade him based on his perceived value around the league. He showed some promise last year and with Suzuki in the playoffs, let’s see what he can do in a full season with a better surrounding group of players. He’s good for 50 points, but his potential is much higher if he can just figure it out. At 5.5M it’s not killing the cap. We are fine for this year...maybe he turns into a 60-65 point player which I think he has every capacity to do so especially playing with Suzuki. Trading him now is absolutely terrible/awful management and it’s trying to solve something that is not really a problem yet, all for a reliable winger? We have 10 of those thank you very much

trading Drouin right now falls in the category of trying to do too much in my opinion. Replacing him with a reliable winger doesn’t change the look of our team. Drouin is arguably the most talented on our team and we already have tons of reliable players.

I could honestly see Drouin‘s talent re-awakening on the Flames. Treliving can create a story of courage, honour, determination and redemption by finally getting a chance to reverse the stigma of the Martin St.Louis debacle.

Habs have no interest in trading a top6 winger who co-led the team in points during the playins. Avs should have keen interest in trading a useless 4th line C who couldn’t kill a or a penalty to save his life in the playins and is a 13th forward most nhl teams. And such a below average skater to boot. He personifies the scrub.

Why hasn’t he been signed to his QO yet? Anything over 750K for Jost is an overpayment!

We are more than happy to keep our 50+pt player. Don’t you worry your pretty little head about Drouin - he’s not available. He’s looking good with Suzuki!

You should be more concerned about your negative value / overpaid players like Conpher, Donskoi, Cole and EJ. Good luck dumping that deadweight!

1. Drouin found chemistry with Suzuki in the playins and playoffs. It took the Zuke to finally understand how Jo's madness all works out. Even better when one of Toffoli or Anderson joins them.

2. Drouin sells burgers. Not kidding. McDonald's Canada invested in marketing with Drouin McD's commercials at prime time on a few French channels. Danault in comparison has done very little high level PR contracts like this. There is an implied Franco player quota in MTL.

3. Drouin is part of the Bergevin core. Too much pride and ego into the Sergachev trade which Bergevin himself admitted was partially a PR move.

Drouin is not leaving. Only futility can be found in such a thread.

Also in a few years maybe Bergevin envisions him on a 2nd line feeding apples to Cole Caufield on the right side.
