So I guess what I am trying to say is, if you have a need at center and you are trading your best prospect you should be sure before pulling the trigger on a what if. We could have kept Sergachev and played Galchenyuk at center and have been better off in the long run.

The trigger was pulled at the right moment IMO, I mean we traded a potential for something already sure...

Yeah Drouin didn't have a good season like the rest of the team but remember my words Drouin will kill it in the future.

I’m not ignoring anything. Both suck. But this is a Drouin thread and exactly zero people mentioned or compared him to Galchenyuk and you came with your agenda of comparing the two for no good reason. So I called you out on it.

Except there *is* a good reason that you clearly ignored.

Everything that Galchenuyuk has been public chastised for by the coaches and management of the team Drouin is guilty of himself and yet, there is not a single word from the coaches or the management in this case. Drouin is worse at center all across the board then Galchenyuk was. He is worse defensively, worse on face-offs, worse positionally yet there hasn't been even a whisper that perhaps he doesn't belong there while Galchenyuk was publicly chastised and told he "wasn't a center at the NHL level."

It's pretty puzzling, to a fan, why the treatment for the two players would be polar opposite for the same offence, no?

Weber 0.62= He's done!

He was really a flop. He was horrible at center, his work ethic was, at best, questionable and he did nothing to boost the abilities of his line mates while delivering just 13-goals.

Sure he has tremendous skill but he just dangles and gets pushed off the puck. Not to mention he's miserable at face-offs and center in general.
And he was not such a 'sure thing' as you stated... In Tampa he was nothing more than a power play specialist. His 5v5 numbers were not special there and they were worse with the Habs.
And considering Chucky spent half the season on the 3rd/4th lines, yes he outperformed Drouin.

tampa/yzerman didnt even WAT JD anymore!...JD was basically in tampas trash can, and yzerman ends up with a future #1D man for him!!

Not throwing in the towel. Just calling his season what it was. What I really want is for him to get a fair shake playing on the wing, before judging.
As far as him being a center, I think we will ruin him as a player if we don't put him back on the wing sooner than later.
I will never agree that trading our PMD for a winger was good though.

I have a hard time believing that playing wing vs center is the tipping point between him being a successful player or him being ruined.

He's learning a new position at center (with no insulation), they didn't convert him to goalie.
