Dude.... Anyone traded for Sergachev, whatever his name, origins etc, would be criticized for being a 0.58 PPG that play half a year all the time, dropped his teammates in the playoffs etc. If anything, Drouin is far more protected than he should be.

It’s not his fault he was traded for Serg. Talk to MB about that. Completely irrelevant. So we should criticize him because of his glass hands/wrists? He’s not protected or he wouldn’t have had to check himself into an assessment centre for his mental health and if he was protected he wouldn’t have been publicly humiliated by sitting an entire game on the bench which he should have. He’s a fine player he just needs Kevlar water wings on his wrists lol

His salary doesn't factor into it. I simply do not buy that he was treated badly by Montreal or Montreal Canadiens fans. In fact, I think he was coddled and supported and given the spit-shine treatment when he, more often than not, was a turd of a player.

The delusion some people impose, that we shouldn't have expected more than the 0.59 ppg player who's bad defensively and soft and a non-factor in terms of leadership... is really so frustrating. And that it is wrong and our fault for feeling let down by his career with the Habs... I mean, come on.

I have faced plenty of opposition regarding my criticism of Drouin; in all fairness, it only comes from a small percentage of posters on this board. Some will even suggest that I must hate him because he is a local-born player lol. The majority of players that I have loved as a Habs fan have been players from Quebec. Lafleur, Savard, Mondou, Houle, Sevigny, Roy,Damphousse, Desjardins, Tremblay, and I could keep going. The difference between them and Drouin or Desharnais was that they were actually outstanding players. One poster even told me that I would despise Rafael Harvey Pinard once he received a new contract lol, it's hilarious.

In a way, it is not Slaf's fault either he was drafted #1 OA, yet if Wright becomes a star and Slaf a flop, he will get slammed as much as Drouin is, even though he doesn't have a french canadian name. So please stop the "french canadian gets slammed harder " narrative.

Just goes to show how phony those public displays of support are when so many choose to quickly forget and likely are even lashing out at their forced complicity in having to ever support him.

Errhmmm... The Brisebois treatment wasn't right in and of itself. AND it was totally inappropriate in the circumstances, considering he mostly always played like the player he was, that is a pretty good puck moving 2nd D-Men who relied on decent positionnal and fundamentals to play passable defence.

AND it was totally inappropriate in the circumstances, considering he mostly always played like the player he was, that is a pretty good puck moving 2nd D-Men who relied on decent positionnal and fundamentals to play passable defence.

He's been treated fine lmao this fake drouin outrage is insane. The guy was put in every position to succeed imaginable. Its on him bro not on the fans , like I can't believe people really think Drouin is mistreated or something lol.

From his draft year, he is 12th in career points and 10th in ppg. This is not bust territory. There are 11 drafted in the first round that year who have less than 100 career points. Jo has 278, despite serious wrist injuries.

The problems are:

- we gave up a Norris-potential defenceman for him,​

- then signed him to a long and big deal he had not earned yet.​

If we got him for a much lesser trade price and signed him to a bridge deal, he would get less hate.
