LOL......they already did, i agree with you it will be very hard to climb out of this hole he digged for himself

I disagree.

I think the media has been disrespectful considering not a minute of hockey has been played yet. He's still on the PP, so his coach is still hoping for something.

I mean we can rant all we want in front of our computer screens, but the likes of mario langue-salle and tremblay should take a deep breath and then keep their dirty mouth shut until the puck drops.

Just the title of some articles are so dumb and provocative. If he wants to perform and give the media the middle finger i'll be supporting him. But yeah he's putting pressure on himself we can agree on that.

I believe in development but I think you can relax with the norris talk at least until he can defend properly.

Not suggesting he will win the trophy, just defining conditions for establishing worst case scenario. Drouin cannot be evaluated relative to cap/points alone, but rather relative to performance of player sent other way.

Great point! We will have to wait and see

Those people who say Drouin will never be in the same league as Kovalev will disappear and hide if Drouin bust out in his prime. But if he doesn't they will be in your face real hard trying to say "I told you so". What they don't realize is what's the big deal? Worse case, we have a 50-60 pts forward who specialized on the PP for $5.5M cap hit. It's not a terrible situation but frustration in the 5/5 play is getting the best of some fans.

Unfortunately I could see Drouin being a 40 point player or worse given how he ended the season.

He should be able to be at least a 60 point player. Let's hope...

It is far fetched but not impossible that he's one day a finalist. More likely to happen than Drouin ever winning anything.

I dont like Drouin one bit but I love the F you to french media.

I just hope he's not mopey because he's not in the top 6 to start the season...We finally have some decent kids looking to make an impact and some young players looking to continue on their progression , I would hate to have attitude issues in the locker room.

With the way Julien spreads minutes out and the teams depth, he shouldn't be that upset he's on the 3rd line at ES.

Impossible. Marc Bergevin only trades for players that are good in the locker room.

That's why we should compare him to Mackinnon, Barkov, Lindholm, Monahan, Domi, Horvat, Mantha.. and he still looks bad. Drouin still the same way as he did 5 years ago. Still the same problems and flaws. He has shown basically no progression in his game in the last few eyars.

The excuse of "he's still young" will soon expired it already has for me but I'll give him one more year.. at 25 he should be on his prime. Let's see how he does. I still hope he becomes the player we all want him to be but the chances are pretty slim.

It's pretty convenient that you chose a bunch of players coming off of their breakout season. They were all in the same boat as Drouin is now at some point. Two of them were even traded when their team lost their patience with them, right before their breakout.

Considering how he ended last year.

There's no way Drouin scores more than 35 points this year.

I'm not a big fan of Drouin but I'd argue that he was finding himself in the direction of Lindholm/Domi , where they started slow (relative to draft pedigree) but once traded started figuring things out. Putting him as our first line C in 2017-2018 was beyond idiotic and just served to fuel the detractors. Last year he was nearly identical to Domi for 70% of the season , so there's reason to believe he can figure that part of his game consistently if he works on his issues. My main concern for him is that CJ hates offensive players that aren't at least capable or decent in the defensive zone , he won't give him the ice-time he needs to be successful (offensively speaking). I see it like a slippery slope leading to a vicious cycle where the player isn't happy with his utilization and the coach isn't happy with a player that can produce offense but costs the team defensively. I guess we'll see what happens , I hope he can prove the haters wrong as we need all our 3rd overall picks to produce like their draft pedigree would imply...

Drouin is pissed off right now. Starting on a 3rd line and being questioned on a daily basis by the medias is becoming very heavy on his morale.

I m sure Drouin would like to play for a NHL team far, far away from MTL.

Nobody suggested that we get rid of him. We should invest his 5M$ in something more useful. Put Byron in the same offensive situation, he'll get you 45-50pts while bringing much more. I really don't think this team needs Drouin. He's easily replaceable.

Nobody is saying to get rid of him? :sarcasm: I'm not so sure about that and you can only speak for yourself
