how many of his points come from the pp being with three of the most explosive players in the league?
The talent was always there. He just was a mutt on the effort scale especially playing 2 way hockey. Moving to center was always a really bad strategy too. For his sake I hope he figured it out. This dude was supposed to be out of the league not that long ago. He was labeled as lazy, terrible defensively, weak physically and super fragile mentally. His team even went to the Stanley Cup finals while he was rehabbing whatever he was rehabbing that year.
He then gets reunited with his BFF Nathan MacKinnon who probably put him on the chickpea pasta diet in Colorado and is now taking off like he has a rocket strapped to his bumhole, playing probably the best hockey of his NHL career. And he's doing all of this as he's about to turn 30.
Crazy turnaround for a player that was basically worth less than nothing not that long ago.
well I would love to see that for the avs but not likely to happenIt's to the point where some Avs fans are now suggesting it's worth keeping Drouin at say $4.5M over Rantanen at $14M.
Lehky played top 6 in our 2021 playoff run.lehky went from bottom 6 to top 6 with colorado. drouin was expected to be something he wasn't in montreal, he's not a center and he's not the star player. he's a lot farther down the depth chart in colorado.

A strong 14-game sample isn't unusual for Drouin. A strong full season is. He's been great for short bursts, then something happens. Until proven otherwise, expect another 'something' to derail his season and/or playoffs.
FYI: The "Something" I referred to was the unknown issue Drouin faced three years ago. Not an injury, it was psychological and serious enough to keep him out of the lineup for months, but since it remains undisclosed I won't speculate. I wish him success, but he's dealt with more than run of the mill injuries. He’s been strong for about a full season’s worth of games for the Avs. Not 14 games. This idea of ‘something’ being anything other than injuries is clearly a veiled and outdated poke at his attitude or consistency or mindset during his time in Montreal. I mean the injuries are a concern - but you can just explicitly state ‘injury proneness’.
I don’t think Avs fans can stress enough how much better the team is when he’s in the line-up. Keeping him upright and healthy has been the issue. Certainly everything beyond that has been extremely positive. Him being healthy and in the line-up is absolutely critical to any chance the Avs have of going on a run this Spring.
He's got 76 points in 93 games in an Avs sweater...agreed that too early for "PPG talk" but he's a legit 65-70 point offensive creator who actually competes hard in all zones in a non-small sample size in Denver.
Since his healthy scratch last season:
41 P in 37 GP last season
3 P in 3 GP in playoffs
14 P in 14 GP this year
he was with our team for 5 years. He was loved and respected in the community from what I could tell. Not a player our team could count on. At all. It's honestly pathetic the way so many habs fans act towards this player who is so clearly loved by his teammates on the Avs. Glad he got out of that swamp
His main problem, even in his final seasons in Montreal, is that he can't stay healthy.
