He studied under Hutson in Montreal, paid his dues and Lane gave him the go ahead to work his magic in Colorado, #Lane'sMagicalTutelage

This dude was supposed to be out of the league not that long ago. He was labeled as lazy, terrible defensively, weak physically and super fragile mentally. His team even went to the Stanley Cup finals while he was rehabbing whatever he was rehabbing that year.

He then gets reunited with his BFF Nathan MacKinnon who probably put him on the chickpea pasta diet in Colorado and is now taking off like he has a rocket strapped to his bumhole, playing probably the best hockey of his NHL career. And he's doing all of this as he's about to turn 30.

Crazy turnaround for a player that was basically worth less than nothing not that long ago.
The talent was always there. He just was a mutt on the effort scale especially playing 2 way hockey. Moving to center was always a really bad strategy too. For his sake I hope he figured it out.

lehky went from bottom 6 to top 6 with colorado. drouin was expected to be something he wasn't in montreal, he's not a center and he's not the star player. he's a lot farther down the depth chart in colorado.
Lehky played top 6 in our 2021 playoff run.

He was good here too. Avs had a much better team to insulate him in

well I would love to see that for the avs but not likely to happen

I dunno.... There's a pretty good argument to be made tbh. Rantanen is proving this year he cant carry a line on his own and on the flip side Mackinnon has proven he can produce pretty much no matter who's next to him.

Really hard to believe Rantanen is actually a $14M player and the Avs could do a lot of good things to their depth if they spread that money out just a little bit.

I ultimately dont think it will happen, I bet the Avs sign Mikko(Though I really hope its for $12.5M or less, I'd hate to give him $13M+ honestly)... But I also definitely think there's some solid merit to letting him walk. Plenty of people criticized Tampa for letting Stamkos walk and they look incredibly smart now to do so and go after Guentzel instead.

He's been a PPG since last January for those not paying attention. He's also one of the Avs most complete and consistent forwards, being sound defensively and always making smart plays.

Agreed he's always had it in him, and it's nice to see it come to fruition. Hope for his sake he is able to stay healthy more consistently, but I'm not complaining if it saves the Avs some $$ on a long term extension

Only 14 games into the season. Could have sworn that his team had played 47
