Drouin is a talented kid, but a 21 year old with 40 career points is not going to get you Hampus Lindholm. Don't be ridiculous.

Well we aren't trading him for a LD making 4mil so no point in bringing him up.

Tampa already has one of the best top 4's in the league and Johnson is one of their two or three best players. What motivation do they have to do this?

There's simply no deal to be made here. Tampa doesn't need Fowler, can't afford his salary without moving a player of greater value and need (unless you want Callahan, Filppula, or Garrison which I very much doubt), and can't protect him in the expansion draft without losing a young high-potential defenseman with a significantly cheaper contract and several more years of team control. There are teams that need somebody like Fowler and will give you a good price for him, but Tampa is not one of them.

I would do that from a Tampa POV.

You might do it, but Tampa doesn't. Have you looked at the Tampa roster? Have you looked at their cap situation? They don't need Fowler. It wouldn't be a smart move on their behalf.

I disagree. Johnson is an RFA looking for a major raise next year along with Palat and I feel Fowler to be a far superior guy than Keokeok.

If it means that much, then I expose Stralman to protect Keokeok and Fowler. Hes on the wrong side of 30 and in the long run would be the right move. Or trade him at the deadline or whatever. Look at the bright side. If they snag Stralman it means they have to pass on Coburn whom is on a sweetheart deal himself.

Fowler for Johnson is a move too good to ignore in my opinion.

Just seems likr TB is taking a couple if significant steps back in you scenario. Maybe that is inevitable with the cap and expansion, but IMO your approach significantly hurts the team when they are a legit Cup contender.

This. Trading Johnson for Fowler makes our cap situation even worse this season (which we obviously can't afford when we still need to sign Kucherov), doesn't significantly improve it next summer (we'd be losing another top six forward to the cap anyway), creates a massive hole at top six center, and doesn't even significantly improve our defense going forward. This is a horrible idea.
