In Memoriam Johnny Gaudreau & Matthew Gaudreau killed by drunk driver while cycling (MOD WARNING. No Flaming, Trolling, or Politics.)

Agreed - let's move on. (This is an official HFBoards staff statement and shall be interpreted as such.)

Anyone in before this post is grandfathered in.
A reminder of the above staff-statement. ^

This is not the place for a legal debate. Please remember your personal anger over what happened and the legal interpretation of what happened are two very different things.

It’s not about feelings. It’s about the value of two peoples’ lives.

Valuing human life the way you're talking about is subjective and specifically based on emotion. Semantics are incredibly important in legal contexts because the meaning of words matters to the application of law. It really sounds like what you're arguing against is what you perceive to be someone arbitrarily using a term so they can argue for a shorter sentence, but what you've ended up doing is arbitrarily using a term to argue for a longer sentence.

Just saw someone lay on the horn hard behind a car turning right.

The car turning right was waiting on a pedestrian walking.

People have zero patience. Wishful thinking unfortunately & I have a feeling it’ll only get worse

I almost got hit the other day walking in a crosswalk. The first car stopped, and the car coming up behind them must have thought they were stopped for no reason, because they veered around to the left lane at full speed and blew right past me. I had to jump back to avoid getting hit. Come to think of it, it's not too different from the scenario where the Gaudreau's got killed.

People have zero patience. They also just forget that pedestrians and cyclists exist. There is a level of impatience and blood boiling anger that comes from sitting in traffic and it makes drivers put human life in jeopardy. Even sometimes when people see you they do things that are insane. In day to day life, outside of a vehicle, these are probably all nice people, but behind the wheel they become something else.
