What information outthere do we have on the driver?

Was he drunk?

him being drunk is just another kick to the balls. Him being an aggressive driver, in the middle of the night and overtaking on the right hand side is what is just pissing me off about this whole story. It's a senseless act. Now two brothers are dead. It's so sad, they were riding their bikes spending time together. I pray the Gaudreau family finds a way through it.

Also loved to speed. But yeah he seemed more concerned about telling them being drunk and driving made him impatient and angry, like really? How about the fact that getting behind the wheel while drunk was already a crime, you don't get to act like it was a f***ing inconvenience. What a piece of shit all around.
Is he a former cop? I was hearing this. Can't confirm anyone know?

Wow
Suspect is “bummed” he is missing the long weekend and wonders if this could hurry up.

This dude must not be all the way there mentally
Long weekend?

This dude ain’t gonna know what long weekends are for 20+ years

unfortunately he could potentially be released on bail after the long weekend.. but his actions in court today could hopefully be used to show a lack of remorse. The one good thing about the US is their justice system wastes no time when it comes to high profile cases. This case probably jumps to the top of the DA's list in that county/township.

Do you think he knows the gravitas of the situation? That he killed an athlete who made millions of dollars? Feels like he’s acting like he just ran over two random nobodies.

Went and found the actual clip. I want to believe his reaction is more to do with the slow realization of reality crashing around him because he does look distraught. Heavy emphasis on "want" because I just can't fathom he'd care so little about murdering two people.
One would think he would be getting used to the idea he is going to be there a long time. Not long enough mind you... but a long time.

This is horrible. What a smooth and talented hockey player. As he has been for years. If one is not in a vehicle, he/she is vulnerable. Safety first. Always be on the lookout for oneself, one's friends, if one is on the road this way. Rest in peace, Johnny Hockey and brother Matthew.

Does it really matter? He killed two people. Who they are shouldn't change anything.
I think Coffey was merely pointing out that this guy may not realize that he is currently internationally hated for his extremely selfish and borderline evil behaviour

Really sad to see all the chatter about drunk driving, etc. This is a hockey forum, not a legal zoom. Can’t we all just really take a beat and think of ALL involved? So many lives MASSIVELY affected with this. Heartbreaking all the way around.

Sure, I don't want to assume he meant any ill will with his post. The guy should feel like shit because he killed two people, not because he's hated internationally for who the two people were. I think we all agree on that.

What the f*** kind of comment is this?

Rich, middle class, poor...irrelevant...two innocent human beings with families lost their f***ing lives due to this individuals careless, wreckless f***ing behavior.

There was a terrible storm later in the night when Johnny and Matthew lost their lives.

The Thunder was louder than usual, the storm was more intense, something felt off last night, didn’t realize what it was until this morning.

Remember staring out the window and seeing the rain, the rain represented tears of losing 2 good men on the side of the highway last night.

Sticks out for Johnny & Matt

Just still feeling distraught over this. I can't believe it. I envisioned his career having probably peaked in Calgary but maybe he and Monahan having some success in Columbus and maybe getting that team to the playoffs, maybe more. And then one day being honored post-career in Calgary on his way to an NHl exec position like a Sakic or someone like that. It's almost unfathomable. Again, I can't even comprehend what his wife, parents and sister must be experiencing. And Matthew and his wife. So utterly painful. So painful.
