.833
It damn sure isn't good.
This is the answer. You know it. I know it. The peanut vendor knows it.

I think Torts knows it. For a guy who is fixated on "momentum" it seems foolish to stick with a guy who has apparently run a bit low on petrol.

Hill has won a Cup. It's worth the gamble IMO to roll the dice with him (apropos to Vegas).

I disagree. We all saw how he acted in the wake of Gaudreau’s death. He gets a lot of respect from some people, despite the rep. That annoys people that dislike him, that have been talking negatively about him for years. Here he’s turned a team around and gotten them into the finals….but we’re going to be concerned about a microphone.

For a series that’s as exciting as this is it doesn’t have much drama, people want to see the villain be the villain. They don’t want to see him any other way. He was probably told not to touch the mic. They’re all probably told to not worry about the equipment, that the people responsible will handle it. People dislike him. They’re always looking for the next reason to point at him.

Many fans do hate him. But there's also a significant section of fans for whom he can do no wrong. Either because they love the idea of an old-school guy who "tells it like it is", or because they project a "tough guy with a heart of gold" image onto him.

Like all that bunk about how "he's just protecting his players from the media!" For all that he supposedly hates the media, he has had no issue publicly throwing his own players under the bus to the media when it suits him, and has done it multiple times in his career. Hell, this quote is as much a dunk on Hill as it is showing confidence in Hart.

I'm not saying he's a bad coach. But just because he's a good coach doesn't mean he can't be criticized for being an asshole.

To be fair he doesn't like to answer questions when they win either. So he at least doesn't pick his spots. He just hates the media in general.

Torts is a narcissist who thinks he’s better than everyone else. He’s always been this way and he has an uncontrollable violent temper. Just look at his time in Vancouver, good lord.

He’s gifting the cup away by starting Hart. May as well not even bother playing game 6.

That is a laughable take unless you literally haven't watched Adin Hill play goal in the last 2 years. Hart got them to a 2-1 SCF lead. He's not the issue whatsoever and he's absolutely better than the alternative. The team just hasn't played well enough in the last 4 periods. Simple as that.

Great way to answer the question. lol. I get he’s backing Hart but no need to shit on Hill.

What happens if Hart goes down with an injury early next game and Hill has to go in like Bussi did for the Canes? Good luck not getting him to tune you out coach.

I have a feeling that Bruce Cassidy will be the coach of the Las Vegas Golden Knights next year after the the Golden Knights lose in the Stanley Cup finals.

I have a better chance of being the coach next year than Cassidy does. The team absolutely turned on him at the end. There is no other reasonable explanation for the polar opposite level of play they suddenly got the instant he was gone.

Odds are the coach next year is going to be Ryan Craig. That's been the rumor in the Vegas media since Torts came on.

Definitely not a stupid question considering his opponent who is winning the series did the same thing he's being asked about. I do like Torts the person but sometimes he really is a jerk for no reason.

Can confirm the bolded. Heck, he came here and I knew him only by that reputation and I was utterly disgusted by the move, wanting to fire everybody, and that impression I had of him persisted for a year and a half or so. Got to see him for real as a coach during that time, though, and... he's for real. He genuinely deserves respect. The media in some other cities wants to set him up as a heel because he takes potshots at them (particularly the late Brooksie (z''l)), but here folks ran with it, embraced it, and enjoyed it (look up the one time when Tom Reed's phone kept ringing mid-press conference, it was a beautiful moment).

All that said, f*** Vegas and I hope they lose. Sorry, Torts, I love you, but f*** that f***ing trust fund baby franchise. :thumbu:

No, he just thinks his job is to coach games, not to be a press secretary. He's dedicated to and good at what he thinks is his actual job, and protects his guys from the part that he himself can't stand and doesn't think either he or they should have to deal with.

Oh, he definitely screws up on occasion when he's trying to play that hand. He's not perfect at it by any stretch. But it's why he's there, and intent matters IMO.

What's the Big Lebowski quote "you're not wrong you're just an asshole"

Like obviously he's on more of a hair trigger temper than usual being 1 game away from losing the series but it is astonishing how many people are suggesting putting Hill in for no other reason than he won in 2023, they clearly did not watch him this season and are also trying to pin this all on Hart when the team defence as a whole has been miserable

Torts always deals a heavy hand when defending his players. Torts feels its not on Hart, so he's going to bat for his guy. That's all this is.

I don't agree with him on this one, but he has done this forever.

If Bowness or Ruff said something like this people would be eating it up, people lose all sense of reason when it comes to Torts

Throw in that he's defending Hart and it's no surprised people got triggered by this lol

The thing is Hart hasn’t really given up any goals you can say are really bad. He’s just not making the big ones .

Andersen was much worse
Hart has been f***ing dog shit.

Rod switched to Bussi and now theyre on the cusp of winning.

One coach adapted. The other is shitting himself with rage for being questioned about sticking by the historically bad goalie.

Said before the series that serious cup aspiring teams don’t have Carter Hart and the 2026 version of Andersen in net.

Even though sometimes teams have won the cup with these types of goalies in recent years, but it’s been 16 years since both teams in the finals have a goalie like that as their starting goalie.

Carter Hart was absolute garbage in the regular season and looked like he was ready to be benched not even halfway through the Utah series in round one. Not at all surprised. And having to switch to Bussi was also so predictable it shouldn’t even have a payout.
