It's so hard being a positive Leafs fan, we consistently get bashed for our fandom and loyalty then on top of it our team just keeps giving others ammo
I literally have zero faith in this franchise moving forward. getting to the point where I don't even want to be a fan anymore.
Can tell you one thing if they lose this series I very well may never watch the Blue and White again,
I assume they are going to come out unprepared again tonight

Tavares just needs to keep things simple but feels like age is catching up to his already slow skating speed

I don't think "John's time will come" is exactly a ringing endorsement of his play so far..
We all been waiting for JT’s time for the whole season, lol.
He doesn’t need to come all he needs to do is just play to the point where he is not a weak matchup against the other team

Coin flip essentially if this team is going to lose 6 straight first round series (hell even one of those was a f***in play in). Its almost like I prefer the tanking years than going through the same shit year after year. At least then I could careless how they played and performed.

It really is like stockholm syndrome when you hear everyone say "THIS ISNT THE SAME TEAM AS LAST YEAR THEYRE BETTER", yet the results are still the same...

At least this year I was finally smart to bet on the Leafs to lose so at least I have a small positive if they f*** up again.

I kinda miss the dreadful tanking years. for as happy as I was when we first got Matthews and Marner no way I expected to see such incredible regular seasons met with such disappointment.
Im at the point now where I always told people Ill never get to. Ill always be a positive fan but here we are I actually lost complete faith in them and I kinda want to have nothing to do with them. all they do is break my heart year after year, like even if we dont win the cup I dont care. seeing a series win is literally all I want to see now.
like what do people do when their team wins a series? do the cars still honk their horns after a series win?
I NEED ANSWERS! lol

I just hate being a fan now

There's no way to know that. Plenty of players waive when it becomes clear the team no longer wants them. Don't think JT wants to be remembered as a burden to the team
While some players agree to waive I think in the other issue is that it would likely be a lower tier team that takes him on if he were to move. A team like Colorado isn’t signing up for that cap hit

So the chance of him waiving to go to a less competitive team, in a less desirable market is zero

Islanders fans were right when they said Tavares has no heart. We are getting into Sedin level softness with this guy. No jam, no emotion, no anger like what does this guy bring to the team other than being a mute who gets punched in the head and does nothing. Terrible terrible choice for a captain. If i were him i would relinquish the captaincy before it gets stripped.

There's absolutely no basis to believe Tavares' "time will come." Primarily because it's not like he has a track history of stepping up big when it matters.

And I also cringe at a statement like that as I'd hope that for a leader, top player and captain his team shouldn't be going into game 5 of a series waiting for him to show up. Tell John to go and watch Crosby last night for a lesson on how top players force success through skill, attitude and tenacity. Sid just goes out there and takes over, like a pitbull on a bone.

If John could channel that energy and mindset (and for that matter Auston, Mitch and Willie too), the Leafs wouldn't be still looking for a first playoff series win with this core.

If the leafs ask him to waive and he turns them down, would the news leak?
If that happens Tavares would be hated in this town.
Most wouldn't hate him. People forgave and still love Sundin for not waiving, which would helped the future of the franchise.

I'm sure Keefe is right. John's time will come, probably in 2015 (the only time he was a + in the playoffs) or 2016 (the only time he was PPG, and the only time his team won a round).

Is it just me or is Keefe terrified of hurting his player's feelings.

He's been GARBAGE Sheldon... Are you seriously that scared of holding your players accountable? This basically tells me that Tavares will never be punished or demoted no matter how bad he plays.

There are certain guys who are untouchable for sure. And Tavares is one of them.

I heard a few isles fans say hes autistic. Regardless I don't think he's fit for captaincy. He just wears no emotion on his sleeves and rarely stands up for himself. Doesn't scream leader.
