Hurts my heart.

What are you expecting back in a Gibson deal that could change this? 1st plus Desmith minus Carter?
Our GM, at a recent season ticket holder event came out and said he sat down with Gibson and told him he wouldn't be moved, he has no interest in moving Gibson and cited his history with the Lightning and struggling to find a #1 goalie for years until they developed Vasilevsky as his reason for not wanting to open that hole up on this team. So most of us don't believe a trade will happen at all, and are perfectly ok with that

Can’t see it costing that much to move 3.25 tbh. Even the last two years it has costed less than that to move worse contracts.

That assumes an open market though. If Carter is only willing to waive his NMC for certain teams those teams can then demand more to take him.

On the Gibson topic, if Verbeek is to be taken at his words Gibson is not being moved unless Dostal becomes the clear cut #1.

Carter isn’t really a necessity for PIT to move. We have a ton of cap.

If Anaheim is unwilling to move Gibson, the last thing PIT needs to do is overpay.

Would rather target Markstrom, Grubs, or someone with similar stats to Gibson for cheaper tbh.

I don't think teams want Carter back in a trade, and would view him negatively. It would require extra to take him on, something the Pens would pass on doing. It's not Granlund bad or anything, but it's similarly going to prove to be a difficult contract to move. I expect that both players (Carter and Granlund) will not be moving this summer, despite Pittsburgh efforts to find a new home for them.

To this specific proposal, the Anaheim GM has all but come out and said that the Ducks aren't dealing Gibson at all. This proposal (a mid-range first rounder, but you have to take a minor cap dump back) certainly isn't going to change their mind.

IF Ducks move Gibson, I think it'll be after next season. They'll let him rebuild some value under a coach with a better defensive system and see if Dostal is ready to take over. If they can reduce the shots against (down to being 20-25th best in the league) and stop allowing cross ice passes right in front of the net, he'll bounce back.

Anaheim will be bad for at least 2-3 more years barring Bedard.

Gibson could certainly ask for a trade. He'll be 30 this summer.
