Assuming the Robertson and Bourque saga gets wrapped up maybe Dallas looks at Carlson. I know it says East but Dallas is more east than Anaheim.
Family lives on East Coast (I believe he still has his house and family in DC) and he's from philly area. I would be utterly shocked if he signed in Dallas.

Most likely he signs in Philly or somewhere close by. None-zero chance he goes back to WSH, but I wouldn't bet on that either as it was rumored he wanted more than 2 years that WSH was offering.

Philly could use a PP QB. As a Caps fan, I do believe we have moved on. Would be surprised if Carlson ended up back here.

What a waste of a mid-1st

They got hit with D injuries down the stretch and barely squeaked in. If they don't make that trade, they probably miss the playoffs altogether; they'd have been in real trouble on the blueline. And once in, he and Mintyukov gave the Ducks a legit (if flawed) top 4 pairing that was essential to beating Edmonton.

Vast difference in how you feel about a season between going to round 2 and playing well and all those young guys getting experience, vs. an end of season collapse. Would they feel as good about it if they'd been Detroit west this year? To me that's worth a late 1st, easy.

Probably not where he wants to go, but I feel like the Leafs could REALLY use his skillset.

#1PP QB and quality puck moving dmen are lacking in our group. Especially if we do end up trading Rielly as rumoured.

At 2 years, I feel like we could offer a pretty high caphit considering we have ample capspace now and that lines up with Matthews going to UFA (either re-signed to more expensive deal, blow it up and rebuild, or have loads to spend on any big name UFAs).

The Leafs will sign Raddysh, so Carlson would be redundant. As others have said, the Flyers seem like a good possibility, or maybe even to Tampa to replace Raddysh.

Care to explain your reasoning for this comment? All deadline rentals are essentially a waste if the idea is cup or bust. The Ducks young core gained valuable experience making it to the second round and even giving Vegas a better fight than Colorado did. They may not have even had that opportunity if it weren’t for acquiring JC.

I'm not saying teams should hand over 1sts, but Anaheim has a deep farm. They could afford to make a short term move in order to end a long playoff drought. The playoff experience should in theory be helpful for the progression of Anaheim's young core going forward. But I suppose it's understandable that Carolina has refused to give up 1st rounders for potential rentals.

I know we don't like to think of our teams as businesses but the owner is probably happy with a series win plus revenue from six home playoff games and isn't losing sleep over a mid-1st. We'll see what Washington does with the pick but it seems like the pick might yield a Joel Farabee / Isac Lundestrom level guy rather than a blue chip.

The leafs absolutely have to throw their hat in the ring on him and see where he wants to play and for how much
