He was 11th in points by defenseman so I don't see 2 years being risky.I wouldn't sign him for more than 2 years, even that's risky.

Still need to get used to the cap going up reality. Those numbers seem absurd for a 35+ D…Lebrun said today to expect 2x9-10.
we could use him for sure. 2 years would be ideal. With Schaefer taking all the PP1 time? I'm guessing Philly.
They need a PPQB, and it's awfully close to their home in DC.
Honestly, that's a large part of why there's so many unsigned RFAs - particularly the Bedard-Carlsson-Fantilli trio. I think it was Waddell who phrased it as "nobody wants to go first".Still need to get used to the cap going up reality. Those numbers seem absurd for a 35+ D…
Family lives on East Coast (I believe he still has his house and family in DC) and he's from philly area. I would be utterly shocked if he signed in Dallas.Assuming the Robertson and Bourque saga gets wrapped up maybe Dallas looks at Carlson. I know it says East but Dallas is more east than Anaheim.
Carlson's leadership, aura, and teachings were never a waste of a mid-1st rd pick.What a waste of a mid-1st
What a waste of a mid-1st

The Leafs will sign Raddysh, so Carlson would be redundant. As others have said, the Flyers seem like a good possibility, or maybe even to Tampa to replace Raddysh.Probably not where he wants to go, but I feel like the Leafs could REALLY use his skillset.
#1PP QB and quality puck moving dmen are lacking in our group. Especially if we do end up trading Rielly as rumoured.
At 2 years, I feel like we could offer a pretty high caphit considering we have ample capspace now and that lines up with Matthews going to UFA (either re-signed to more expensive deal, blow it up and rebuild, or have loads to spend on any big name UFAs).
Care to explain your reasoning for this comment? All deadline rentals are essentially a waste if the idea is cup or bust. The Ducks young core gained valuable experience making it to the second round and even giving Vegas a better fight than Colorado did. They may not have even had that opportunity if it weren’t for acquiring JC.What a waste of a mid-1st

Maybe. I dont think Raddysh to Toronto is a done deal by any stretch of the imagination. The Leafs will sign Raddysh, so Carlson would be redundant. As others have said, the Flyers seem like a good possibility, or maybe even to Tampa to replace Raddysh.
If you talk to people in the Caledon hockey community, it sounds like it's basically a sure thing.Maybe. I dont think Raddysh to Toronto is a done deal by any stretch of the imagination.
I don’t see the fit with Hutson and Dobson already being thereWould be perfect for Montreal

Hutson and Dobson were dominant together. I'd probably put Carlson with Matheson or Guhle on the 2nd pair.I don’t see the fit with Hutson and Dobson already being there
I feel like he needs good pp time to thrive. Would he get that in Montreal? I suppose he could work with someone like Matheson but I’d think Montreal would want someone more defensively minded opposed to JC.Hutson and Dobson were dominant together. I'd probably put Carlson with Matheson or Guhle on the 2nd pair.
