When you look back on hindsight, it looks more like Jones was the only one they could get

I also think one year was important to Fletcher, he has three young goalie who will be pushing for that spot next year, and I think Fedotov is also eligible to come over, and he'll have three KHL seasons under his belt so ready for the NHL like Sorokin (who came over at 25).

Doubt it says that at all. Fletcher just wants cost certainty.

Cost certainty is what stands out to me the most in Fletcher deals. Of the loooong-term variety. As well as the likelihood that someone up the chain of command has told him "don't worry, we'll pay to get out of any mistakes, just make the team competitive, or at the very least, look like it!"

Next stop, finding out what it costs to pay to get away from JvR AND not take any needed cap space back in return. Like the Ghost deal probably...players and picks out, nothing back.

His comparables are TK, Garland, Colin White, Tuch, Bjorkstrand... none of these guys are PPG players.

There were roughly ~20 PPG players in the NHL last year.

At $5M, I wouldn't expect PPG performance from Farabee to make the contract worth it... That seems to not match reality unless I'm missing something?
I mean signing a long term deal this early means you are gambling on a big win on the deal to give the players certainty. The team gave him a deal a good player would receive when they could have held out on term. I’m good with it, but this says the team thinks he’s the real deal to show this much confidence.

They need JVR going into this season. Next summer could be different though.

Not terrible, not great. Seems about right, though I agree with those saying it it a bit of a gamble. I think Farabee could underperform to the contracts value, but if he does I don't think it will be by much.

I don’t see JVR as someone other teams wouldn’t want.

What I liked about Farabee was his drive to get to 20 goals or whatever it was. He was going all out and it was obvious he and Allison were talking about it on the bench and on the ice. That kind of desire will go a long way and make for a productive and consistent career.

Never trust men who only wear f***ing golf shirts. A dress shirt to be fancy. Some jeans. T-shirt and blazer. Plenty of business casual options. Or even just casual! Anything but golf shirts. Hockey Guys are as backwards in fashion as they are in everything else.

Say what you wants about the Flyers but is there a better dressed coach than dearest Alain? Looking the part is his speciality.

Next summer I'd be shocked if they don't ditch JVR. Can't see how Giroux and RASMUS get new deals without it.

You know they're doing this to force Giroux out. When it comes time for his contact, you know they're going to tell him that they don't have enough money to give him what he deserves and that he should look to get paid elsewhere. He's going to get screwed by this group.

If you can't play the part, you may as well look it and fool em as long as you can.

And if you can do it to the tune of 25M, all the better.

I look at this picture and I just laugh . Francis out smarted himself trying to do what Vegas did . This year he had the advantage of a flat cap to help him out as well but his arrogance ( stupidity) got in his way . He tried to use the cap space as a way to strong arm teams into unreasonable deals and refused to bend . Teams said screw you .

Now who is laughing , his team is low caliber and it's his fault . "Idiot"
