Danault wanted out due to how he was disrespected by both Bergevin and the fans. Remember when I asked this question... Are you nervous that you agree with Bergevin on Danault?![]()
I think we should call LA and ask Bergie to take every stupid contract he has given. Anyway, he LOVES his kids? He believes in them? Sell that to Blake.
I doubt. Danault smelled that this 2021-22 would be a disaster. And he left the sinking boat.
Chiarot signed for less $ w Habs vs Jets offer
Armia was the bait to move Mason’as contract & create cap space - Jets did not want to deal him, he was respected in the room and was a mentor for Laine at the time

He knew darn well that Weber and Price had serious health problems. Geez, he was with them every day. The players are well aware of injuries to their teammates.I don't believe he left cause he seen the future of the Habs this year.
Danault left because Montreal management didn't make a serious effort to bring him back. Blaming fans is a cop out. Tons of fans wanted him back.

Fans are a factor in this. There was a lot of movement on the "he's not worth $5M+ for a 3C" and Bergevin agreed with it. I told some posters, you sure you want to agree with Bergevin?![]()
I don't think Armia could have been in any way a sort of mentor, lol, but thanks for the poster who mentioned this, it's good to laught in the morning, that makes my day !Joel Armia being a mentor to both Laine and Kotkamiemi could explain a lot about how their careers have gone.
There was a movement to keep Radulov/Subban/Markov/etc, Bergevin doesn't listen to fans and sure as hell fans can't make anything happen.
It sure does doesn't it? The dudes cursed. Maybe he knows this and it's why he coasts so much. He got his freaking face sliced up today. Jesus. It seems like every time he gets on a roll something happens to stop it.![]()
Is Armia a good buyout candidate next summer if we can't trade him and need money for signings?

In the last 3 years of the buyout, those would be the years we'd expect the team to start being more competitive. I would rather have his cap hit on our books while this team will likely suck the next 2 years, in the last year of his deal we might have a better chance of trading him.
A lot of it will come down to Caufield (if he has a great year and gets an 8 year extension) and if Dubois wants to come here when he's a UFA. If he does then I imagine we'll need some money.
Armia is essentially deadweight, and when you have guys like Price, Hoffman and Gallagher who are also deadweight then you have to start trimming somewhere so you can at least give the kids some competent vets to play with.
Dadonov, Byron and Drouin will be gone after this year clearing like $14M and 3 roster spots that can be filled by cheap younger guys like Ylonen, RHP etc.
I want plugs like Hoffman/Armia/Gallagher gone, but don't want to take on additional cap space or additional years of cap hits in doing so.
