Joe Veleno. Suspended 5 games.

How is Fantilli doing in your eyes?
Aside from not getting on the scoresheet enough quite well, he is actually being held back a bit by just not having quality enough guys to work with but his skating, hands and using his size is going to pretty much confirm after this tournament that he will be going 2 in the draft.

he might need to get a bit more selfish here soon and it may cause a btiter turnover or two but I think you live with that considering there really isn't any top notch talent to do anything with what he can give you. We need to have some players emerge offensively to really see the best of him IMO but starting to get doubtful that is going to happen.

I’m presuming you’ve never played a sport in your life after making a comment like this.

In the heat of the moment, you try to do an action to benefit you because you’re a competitor and it results in something stupid like this.

Doesn’t mean you should be warranting prison time lol. This is probably the worst comment I’ve ever seen on this site.

He deserves a suspension of 5-10 games. If they really want to make an example of it, give him 15+. But to go to prison? Come on now lol

The point is that some moves are criminal !!
If you practice MMA, or Muay Thai, that is a totally tolerated move. (note that you have no blade)

in hockey .. .it is a career ending threat. That sound serious.
This is not hockey ... hockey is a nasty body check ... while the guy is not watching or something like that.

Here , we are in the domaine of assault !! with a weapon (a blade)

In the heat of ... i understand ... i practiced a lot of sport, never hockey, but socker and mainly muay thai for more than 30 years. You can injure people ... in the frame of the rules. In Muay Thai, if i would jump with my 2 feets on the head of the oponent while he is on the floor ... (which is tolerated in MMA) i expect a criminal investigation and more to come.

I don’t think there will be any criminal investigation for this nor should there be.

The player merited a suspension and will be punished accordingly.

Again I don’t think this is a hockey move, but this isn’t exactly happy Gilmore removing his skate to try and stab somebody with it.

The player will say he tried kicking the puck free and that will be that. Nothing more to see.

I just find it ridiculous that the mentality is to immediately point to the law. I remember when Chara hit Pacioretty and all the Habs fans wanted him arrested and incriminated for it. Unfortunately when you sign up for a physical sport, accidents are prone to happen. Whether it’s somebody unintentionally injuring another player, or deliberately doing so because he loses his mind in the heat of the moment; that’s where suspensions and fines come in which are harsh enough to police such matters.

That was one of the most dangerous and disgusting thing I have ever seen a player do, Hockey Canada should suspend him and banned him for ever playing for Canada again, what the heck was he thinking there, he could of shop he's damn leg off!! He needs to be kicked off the team.

Well that's one way to make a name for yourself.

Should get 2 games suspension IMO. And obviously no criminal charges, it was ridiculous when Montreal fans called the police on Chara and it would still be ridiculous today.

It was also Simon's eighth suspension. His previous one (7th) was for 25 games. Chris Pronger got 8 games the same season for the same infraction.
it was also prongers 3rd suspension in 10 months (2x 1gamers in 2007 playoffs)

its the IIHF so they will be stricter. it will likely be close to the same as prongers total would be my guess

Stomping on somebody with your skate is possibly the most dangerous thing you could do on the ice, you could easily cut an artery in the leg and kill somebody doing that. This kind of shit should carry a lifetime ban.

Something like that could be career ending. What was he thinking?
Nevermind career ending, if he cuts an artery which is pretty easy to do with how sharp those skate blades are he could have killed him.
