Shoot Blais into the sun, leave Kravy in the lineup

Also about god damn time they win in these jerseys lol
Hahaha. Yes Krav REALLY contributed heavily tonight. The difference was him being in for Blais. Let’s start shooting other players into the sun. In fact all of them and we’ll just ice a team of cloned Kravtsovs!

That save on Aston-Reese was great but it only happens because Lafreniere had his stick ripped out of his hands. He’s picking his stick while Aston-Reese gets a free run at Igor. Clear interference leading to a massive scoring chance. Uncalled.
But they called two absolute nonsense penalties on the Rangers. It’s *infuriating* how the officials manipulate the action.

It’s a good problem but I don’t see a way for Blais to get back into the lineup. He has to wait for an injury or something. I bet he comes back much better with more confidence though.

I like this version of Vesey. Fits in really good with Krieder and Trocheck too. That line can play a couple different styles if need be.

I like Panarin preventing a goal with a dynamite stick check. I knew it was in there somewhere, just had to get him doing it again.

I like this style of win against a very good Leafs team. The boys can take from this.

I also like a 5 game winning streak. Law of averages helped us in a couple but I think we're starting to make the turn around the corner.

Idk how you can take Kravtsov out of the lineup. He's very deserving of being an everyday player, even if it is going to be on the 4th line.

He should be up with Panarin and Mika with Goody down on the 4th line, but baby steps with Gallant. Keep Kravtsov in.

It's frustrating because he does a lot of good things, but he seems to be holding back, whether by choice or by physical limitations, at times. To me, it's mentality. Every time he gets the puck with space he slows down and waits. He's not a burner obviously, but he's "playing" slow so it's making him less effective at times, particularly in transition. He's not a great skater, but he's a good enough skater to make things happen, I feel like his holding back and hesitating is 100% mental.

Agreed re: Laf, your third paragraph. Some of his physical skills lack but he has the talent to be way more than he currently is, and even at that he’s 0.45 ppg.

Either the kid line or the LAF-Zibanejad-Kakko line has been good enough that guys like Lafreniere and Kakko can’t be having those 4-8 game pointless streaks. It’s bad luck and bad decision making, lack of aggressiveness. Yeah, Lafreniere is not going to be Conner McDavid but he is capable of getting onto the score sheet way more regularly even without consistent PP time.

Same for Kakko, the guy just went 7 games without a single point not that long ago. He has to stop being buried for ages at a time. It’s on both the kids themselves and the coaches.

We are tremendously unlucky because Panarin also has just 6 goals on the year and has scored just 1 goal in his last 21 games. Imagine what the offense would look like with a functional Panarin. More points in the bucketloads.

But the team can’t just keep handing the torch to Zibanejad and Panarin and expect them to 100-point their way through the season by brute force. It has to scheme some creativity and energy and get the kids going too.

But since the rebuild started (and probably before) this team is just content to hand the baton to its stars, have very little secondary or complimentary scoring, and win every game 2-1. Horrible coaching and team management.

I like how Valiquette referenced this gif during second intermission .

Winning hides a lot.

Another sub1 xG game.

Imagine we can be good 5v5... with effort, the kids, the PP and Godmode Shesty.
Oh yeah. I’m not getting tricked.

The team ain’t nothing until the kids take over. It’s been baby steps but we are nowhere close.

I’m not getting sucked into the delusion that Panarin Kreider Zibanejad are going to be our main horses to win a Cup. These guys have had near a decade in this league. They are not the main guys for a Cup winning team.

We have a way to go.

Leaf fans will say that their team didn't play well, but I thought they played with a lot of intensity. Rangers defended well overall, with the exception of Trouba, who continues to look lost. If he's nursing injuries, give him a week off because he is currently a net negative almost every night.

And that hop in his skating stride was really prevalent tonight.

In the playoffs last year when he was going at a different level there was very little of that.

He kept his feet moving, was lower in his stride with and without the puck. He’s too upright again and that usually occurs when you are thinking too much
that's a good point. To my eyes he gets into observer mode too much. Seems like something coaching & video might help .
