How's Vesey looking for you guys?

He's looking fine.

Did very well in our prospect tournament, as expected of him, and he's looked like he's NHL material through the preseason. And, as expected of rookies, he's got some areas to work on. Adjustment is naturally needed by most players. But he's shown a bunch of positives.

IMO, he's looking like what he was advertised to be: a good rookie with the likelihood of being a solid middle-6 player once he works the kinks out.

About 15 or 16, I'd say.

So Is vesey not even able to crack the rangers top 6?

The Rangers don't really have a top 6. They tend to roll the top 3 lines relatively evenly.

Whether Vesey plays on the "first" line with Stepan or the "3rd" line with Hayes has more to do with chemistry than ability. I'd say he probably starts on a line with Hayes and JT Miller.

But if your question is where NYR management see Vesey ranking in terms of our wingers, I would place him in a race for 4th behind Zuccarello, Nash, Kreider with Buchnevich and JT Miller.

I'm also not convinced that he is a lock for time on the PP units.

AV rolls his offensive lines pretty evenly and usually pushes the one that's currently "hot."

So, kind of tough to tell where he lands. Though I guess if we're going in a traditional sense, Vesey probably ends up rotating through the "Middle 6" for the time being.

But like I said, if whatever line he's on is hot...then he'll probably see increased play time until that line cools off a bit.

Not sure what kind of PP he'll get. If anything, he might be on the second unit.

Are you slighting Vesey here, the Rangers, or both? Vesey is exactly where he needs to be. Whether that's top 6 or top 9 doesn't matter. He's a rookie and he isn't used to playing 82 games. His ice time will be adjusted accordingly. The Rangers have a strong top 6 and don't need Vesey to be a top 6 player right now.
