I’d agree with you if he didn’t already have a season plus worth of games under his belt. He has peers on this team that are in similar situations and they’re making him look stupid. He has size, a solid shot , supposedly a nasty side. He uses none of it. I personally don’t think it looks good for him in regards to an nhl career, at least not here in NJ. Our management is saying the minors aren’t an option. It’s sink or swim time and he’s not a good swimmer, it seems.

I have a son his age. I’m not defending his play. I’m saying he just isn’t mentally ready for the grind of the NHL from my observation. I have to deal with a 20 year old all the time. He’s smart and capable and very talented in his chosen field. That said he still doubts himself and needs emotional support and can take adult criticism personally. If Zacha has lost his confidence and his heart isn’t in it then all the benching in the world will just reinforce the negativity. Send him down and maybe he grows up maybe he doesn’t but you can’t rush maturity. It happens differently for everyone. Professional sports leagues are the antithesis of supportive. It’s dog eat dog in every facet including your own team and young players that need extra attention are just a drag on a coach who just wants the players to execute the game plan and have no time to really mentor or develop a player. Take a kid with a fragile confidence and have him second guess himself with no real way to correct the mistakes and these are the results.

Each goal has had a massive defensive breakdown, so I agree you can’t hang it on him, but it is another 3 goal against game for him. That isn’t acceptable.

It is more of a process criticism on the coaching staff not recognizing Kinkaid’s play up unti this point, and the challenge critical nature of this game

EXACTLY.

I'm well aware of how the team is playing in front of him but at some point, you need your goaltender to make the saves he needs to make to keep you in the game when everything else isn't working well.

You can say they're hanging him out to dry and all that but the cruel reality is that he's the last line of defense when everything else breaks down and he gave up 3 goals in 2 periods. That's fact unfortunately.

Devils have one more period to get their butts in gear and play better 'cause they can't depend on Kinky it seems to stand on his head.

No matter what, you can't keep down the rising tide. If we miss the playoffs again, which would be a collapse, you can't bring back this entire coaching staff next year. Someone has to get Lucille'd on this staff, if not all of them, other than Clowe (I don't know enough about what he does here and this is only his second year here) and Melanson. There's no way all 3 of Lloyd, Harry and Hiney can be here next year. That will be year 4 of this staff? If we sucked at our jobs this bad, we wouldn't get a year four. Even if we worked for a company and they gave us incompetent and broken tools to do the job.

The organization has fired people that were better at their job over these last 3 years (Sherry Ross and Rich Matthews), than these guys.

I'd totally blast Nasreddine into a canyon and hope he lands back in Wilkes Barre somewhere. I think you need to blast him before Ward, but maybe the struggles and poor usage are more due to Hynes having full autonomy than anything? Who knows.
If I'm Hynes I'm getting rid of Nasreddine ASAP.

Hi, this is Andrew Gross of the Record and North Jersey.com! Back by popular request, I have another video blog that I'm doing from inside my home. I know all you guys really enjoy me when I talk to you from inside my home, and I've gotten a lot of requests for it lately! So, after tonight's game, I'll be posting my thoughts in a vlog, that I'll have updated for you sometime in the early AM hours! With my thoughts on Severson and Pavel Zacha, as well as other things from tonight's big game at MSG. For the record and NorthJersey.com, I'm Andrew Gross!

I don't mind when we look weaker than teams and get pushed off the puck. But when we look slower, less skilled and get dominated physically by teams it is really frustrating.

I remember when people were so high on zacha. Probably the same ones that bashed me for not thinking Cory a top 10 goalie. Kid is a bum the devils should never have drafted. That’s conte for further proof you and uncle fester should’ve been let go looooong before you were

The Swedish Staypuff has NOT looked good tonight, so I 100% think the Devils can tie this thing up.

Lundqvist has been unusually lucky tonight on posts and bounces.

I have a feeling that Nas is his guy, kind of like Steve Spott is DeBoer's guy in San Jose and Jay Woodcroft follows Todd McLellan around everywhere he goes. Not saying Nas will follow Hynes around everywhere, but I think Hynes has him on a longer leash than Ward. They've been a tandem for quite some time.

Here's a phrase I've heard many times. I've never seen a guy suffer or get worse from too much time in the AHL. Send zacha down there at least the rest of this season. Maybe even next too. Ask tatar, Nyquist, pacioretty, Kadri, etc.

Don’t disagree with this sentiment. AHL time will likely help.

Having said that I’m not sure Zacha will ever be a player that produces points. The more I look at him and his career (junior and pro) he doesn’t profile as someone who will become a regular point producer. AHL time might turn him into a good bottom six player (which is better than complete bust).

Just saying guys, this is pathetic. The Rangers don't look like this nightly, they usually get outshot just as bad as we do.

I can have Machine Head give us a crash course on how the Rangers usually look and I know a lot of people on here watch them, so those of you that do, should be able to attest to this.

Bratt has been really off tonight. And Butcher has been pretty ass on the PP for the past couple of games.

I wonder if Hynes realizes how bad we look on this PP? Or does he only see goals against and when a save is made, he just ignores it?
