Can someone clarify to me who the rumor was started by?

If they can't say it, can they write a harmless sentence with something that rhymes with that someone?

I'm only half kidding.

I read through the entire game thread and didn't see his name mentioned once. Watched the 3rd period and thought he was injured. And that's impressive? He's not what the bruins are looking for for uptempo speed. Move on.

Hayes compete level tonight impressive. Looks very engaged & focused. Hungry Hayes is a solid player

His effort level has been good all throughout preseason and it has carried over.

Problem is he's still very slow and a step behind the play most of the time.

Just a question - did you watch the game or just read the thread? I thought he played better tonight than he has in a long, long time. I think most would agree on that to be honest.

He had a hit and a shot on goal tonight and even managed to win a puck battle (before turning it over seconds later but why be critical). Major progress.

He didn't suck tonight, but he really wasn't all that good either. He still hard a had time keeping up with the play multiple times. He did play hard though. He has to be one of the weakest players at his size I have ever seen at the NHL level. Like most everyone else I really want to see him succeed, but I'm thinking surely there are better options within the organization, especially given that the Bs want to play at a faster pace this year.

He was far from the issue tonight. If he had played like his linemate Beleskey did though he would be getting 10x the amount of **** he is right now.

I watched the 3rd, preseason, and 90% of last season. It's clear to me the bruins have much better options. Good he hustles but like the poster above stated a step behind the play and that's him going 110%.

If he plays like he did tonight, he deserves atleast some time to figure it out. I would agree there are probably better options in the organization, but I don't think they are ready to play.

He's gone towards the end of the season if everyone's healthy.

He was better than Beleskey tonight and a lot better tonight than he was for a good portion of games last season.

When you don't see his name mentioned in the GDT, that usually means he had an okay game.

Very impressed tonight. Best game as a Bruin, if you ask me. Throw out the goals, I saw genuine not faked effort...and even a heartfelt hit or two. It's pretty tough to make a long term attitude shift, but if he keeps playing smart and giving an honest effort I'm happy to give him a clean slate with me. Kind of a revalation tonight. I really didn't think he had it in him. He's faked it before, sure...not tonight. Wow.

Now the tough part, keep it up.

Yes...I'm grading on a curve. Haha

No it's pretty obvious he's not noticed so not worth mentioning anything other than he skates hard... I would do the same if my life depended on it.

My point is, he didn't have a bad game so there wasn't much complaining. I'm a huge Hayes Hater (as a player, not a person) but he did fine tonight.

The person I've never said anything bad about until tonight is Beleskey. He hasn't looked good in a few games now though. I feel like he might be injured or just not very talented.

Kid got the loudest "boos" st the opener tonight when he was introduced. I sort of felt bad, I won't lie.

But this is Boston sports. If you're playing poorly, the fans will let you know.

I don't think he's been playing poorly at all this year. He's skating with much better purpose, showing effort in all three zones, looking quicker to react, and not a liability like he was down the stretch. If he keeps playing like this, the points will come and he'll be a serviceable third line RW.

I really want to see Backes with Hayes at some point this year. I can't help shake the feeling that Backes would be a huge boost to Hayes.
