- game 7 - score 9-1 Jets
- Helly with a shutout, despite the score
- Coach Lowry signs contract in the second period, joins son on 3rd line, scores natural hatty
- Pierre Luc Dubois becomes a Jedi Master, waves hand at Smith, and says 'Allowing goals is fine"
- Coach Maurice does the presser in a pink Tutu and plays the swan in a short improv
- The Zamboni driver, a secret Jets admirer, goes crazy and puts vehicle through the short wall as the Jets celebrate mid-ice
- KFC's skates never actually touch the ice
- After the game Mark Stone is swamped with emotion, and admits that Vegas was a giant mistake, lawyers up, and signs in sweet home Manitoba for 1.5 million x 9

Any one of those? Or all of those?

Historically, NHL teams with a 2-0 lead in a seven-game playoff are 324-51 (.864) in those series.

Let's just hope those numbers don't go to 324 - 52

Playoffs are a different animal baby

Great start to the series, but McDavid and Draisaitl will make an impact yet.

Important thing is the Jets are playing smart and got that fluke bounce both games by putting it on net. Those bounces hopefully stay our way.
Yes, the important thing is the Jets are playing smart though I didn't see a fluke bounce last night to win the game. Stats made a great play by delaying his shot a bit causing Smith to be screened by 2 of his own D-men.

But yeah, keep playing the right way: hitting, great D, great goaltending, get traffic in front of Smith and shoot. However the puck goes into the net behind Smith, whether it's a tip, screen or clean shot all Jets goals are good.

I watched this fiercely competitive defensive game, and I was very impressed with how the Jets shut them down. They are sucking the forwards all the way back to the inside circles in the defensive zone, to help support the defence, and it's working great. Also the Jets are exiting their zone along the boards and out, and at the same time keeping the Oilers scoring chances mostly outside on the perimeter. It's working great, and I hope they keep this style of play up, instead of watching McDavid wheel around our defenceman. Do "not" run and gun with the Oilers, or you will lose.

I was impressed that Kyle Connor upped his game, and looked like a dominant force out there, compared to last game, and came very close to scoring. ( I think 6 shots on net) Also really liked the play of Copp, who skates hard, and forces the play, and his shot is a lot more accurate than it was 2 years ago. Way more accurate !!

Also thought Logan Stanley played really well, and the Jets should protect him the expansion draft, and give Copp the money he's asking for, as he's turning out to be a real force for the Jets. Never thought I'd say this about Copp, but his game has improved immensely.

Also thought Helle was outstanding, and Dubois is coming along, and played a pretty solid game, especially in the 3rd period. Generally the boys have all bought into this defensive style of game, and all of them gave a 100 % effort, and played really well. Very gritty hard nosed Hockey.

I now am a "believer" and think the Jets have a great chance to take this series, whereas I didn't feel that way before the series started. I really like our chances now, and even more if Ehlers is in the lineup. We win the next game on Sunday, and that's pretty much it for the Mighty Oilers.

I should also add, for the last 1.5 years, I was really pushing on HF Boards for the Jets to grab Jesse Pulju while he was cheap, and wanted out of Edmonton. That guy is going to be a big star in the NHL, and has way more value than Laine IMO.

Older brother Joel signs after the second period, and the all-Lowry line finishes the game with 25 hits.

I am no coach, but I'd be tempted to play Ehlers down the lineup. Let the others stifle mcdrai, then let Nik score at will

The second line sees virtually no time vs the top 2 lines.
Scheifele and Lowry took all the big head to head matchups in the first 2 games.
I think I saw Dubois out against them for a few seconds here and there.

Playing on the 2nd line gets us their 3rd and they don't have a Lowry type line.

Comes down to playoff experience. Jets got it. Oilers don't. Plus the media hype.
. It's gonna be WPG vs Montreal round 2 and Sportsnet tears are gonna be delicious.

They actually deserve WPG vs Montreal in reality cuz Jesus Christ I've never watched a more homer broadcast than these last 2...

Even their little playoff video they show off the north... It's all leafs and Oilers. Hell we don't even got a dude at Tim Hortons to collect.

What do you mean?
Hellebuyck's stick is for sale.

As others have said start Helly in both.

My higher-level question for the league is WHY are the 2 North Division series forced to unnecessarily play back-to-back games in the playoffs when no other Division's series are forced to? It's not like the rinks are really booked up with other events that are forcing this so unfortunately the answer is possibly ?TV/ratings/long weekend? No reason why game 4 couldn't be Tuesday instead of Monday but it is what it is: stupid.

Pretty simple.
The Leafs MUST play on Saturday night.
Our schedule is to ensure if the Leafs / Habs series is still going that they will play next Saturday night.

Notice how the Oilers home games are 7pm their time and ours are either 6 (6:30) or 8:30 / 9pm.
Maurice has brought this up.
We may be the only team in the league that gets chumped like this continually.

I wonder if the teams skate today.
It would be good to get a hint at any lineup changes for either team for my GDT.
I'll try to post right at midnight for all you night owls.

As hard as winning these first two games was I think Game 3 is currently going to be the toughest. Beating a team 3-straight in the NHL is close to impossible.

Let's hope we don't let the wins and success and possible return of Ehlers effect our game plan and commitment to D.

There's definitely shenanigans going on. Both North Division series could have games played on the same night in theory: Leafs/Habs early game and Jets/Oilers late game (if the series goes that far). But with how SN is blatantly pro-Oilers/Leafs it's pretty much a lock some TV bigwigs are in contact with the league to ensure this doesn't happen.

Let's just dash SN's and the league's shenanigans and win the series, preferably in as few games as possible. Less clenching plus screwing the league and SN is a win-win!

Thanks for the jinx lol

Next game is huge. Either we nail it down or give them some momentum

Of those 51 teams that came back, I wonder how many ended up winning 4-2

Just for historical interest, and because yes, I'm old as f*ck, the first time the Jets won the Avco Cup in the WHA in 1976, the score of the final game (against Gordie Howe and the Houston Aeros) actually was 9-1 for the Jets.

I just don't see Jesse ever being better than Laine; Laine can score and Jesse cannot.

Posted this on the main board

Have to love the narrative out of Edmonton, the Jets are cheating because they won’t let our poor McDavid score, why are they checking him so much, it’s not fair….and their goalie is stopping all our shots, that’s not fair….

The one I keep seeing is: We can't score because we're not getting any powerplays for McDrai to feast on!

3 problems with that:
- Jets took more penalties
- McDavid is the best 5-on-5 player anyways so that's no excuse
- The fairest game is when it's even-strength
