Early yesterday, I posted this: "If we win, I hereby solemnly pledge promise to write a focused poem extolling the virtues of expludong things."

Its not like I need to be pushed much into writing a Jets-based sonnet or speech. Expludong and Jets? Here we go. :D

The Virtues of Expludong

Soft! What light through yonder playoff standings breaks?
And yea verily, they say,
Expludong is the head that wears the Art Ross crown, and -
We of this Board accept thy unsung secondary mantle.
Aye; the media itself is expludong,
That croaks the spangled entrance of an Oily squad
Upon the playoffs.
Now - to business.
Come, you forwards:
Tomato, Farmleague, Doobhaus, Shuffles, Lurch, Lewis and Stats -
Tend on multiple goal thoughts, undress the Squealers here,
Expludong and fill Smith’s helm to the toe top-full with vulcanized rubber
Of direst cruelty! Expludong my beer;
To stopper the access and passage to remorse,
That no compunctious visitings of Draisaitl
Shake thy fell purpose, nor keep peace between
The effect and it!
Come, McDavid, to be expludong in Pionk’s embrace,
Let the mauler be maul’d well.

Let's hope the expludong continues next game

Here is the thing about Sportsnet, they need to attract viewers. Which statement will do that in the pregame bull they put out.

" Tonight we will watch again as the Jets shut down MCD and Draistl just like they were able to do in Game 1"

or

"McD and Draistl will be oall over the place scoring at will because this Oiler team is unstoppable after a loss"

Anyone able to provide Bieksa’s blurb on Keith Acton coaching Will Acton, compared to Dave Lowry and Adam Lowry? I am disappointed I wasn’t recording the game.

Unsung hero so far.
Mark Scheifele. Overplayed by PoMo most of the year. Playoffs-on the road, Scheif has been played a a little less, so as to be ready to match him as much as possible against McDavid. For the most part he has smothered him. For those who like to watch a player rather than the puck (hard on TV) his two way play has been remarkable. He has covered him like a blanket, yet still been an offensive factor.
Yes he has played very well. Nod to Stastny for publicly calling out the entire team for loose coverage a month ago.

Bieksa gives honest entertaining stories, and that was one of the better ones. Nice contrast to the panel and their predictable trite analysis of games.

As a player I didn’t like Bieksa but he has an actual personality so that stands out on SN.

I don’t like Hrudy buy I will give him props pregame when the panel all said McDavid and Drai would go off he said “Hellebuyck might have something to say about that”

I usually don’t care or notice the National media that much. I have always been a big Scott Oak fan, I think he is the consummate professional.

Tippet already played his ace: putting McDavid and Draisaitl together. None of their other forwards concern me other than maybe puju.

I really don't think PLD has been healthy yet as a Jet. I think we'll need to wait til next season to see the real Dubois.

Can't wait for nikolaj! Do we hold him out til we lose?

I thought it was funny listening to Cassie Campbell whine about the refs during the 1st intermission. That SN panel is a joke.

I will say Singh did a good job on the call today (DeSuck, not so much) and he totally gave us a homer call on the OT winner
He was just happy it wasn't going to double OT! :sarcasm:

I would sit PLD and play Ehlers as the only change when he’s ready... something definitely off with PLD still

When you have the skill that Scheifele does, all it takes to be a defensive specialist is buy-in. He's doing what it takes to win. If he played his usual game and got three points in that game, McDavid would get four or five. Scheifele, and every player on the team, is FINALLY dancing to the same tune. Magical.

I would not rush Nik back yet, but we could use his game breaking ability. I agree I think this has been a tough season on PLD from day one he just needs to hang in for now.

Yeah that's funny. Drai McD line was so effective against us regular season they probably thought it was a no brainer come playoffs. The best part of that is after that line you literally don't have anything.

I was surprised after the first or second where Smith was making some amazing saves Hrudy gave Helle more attention

Of course but as a national broadcast they should at least attempt to be unbiased, especially when it's two Canadian teams playing against each other.

They've been salivating at the idea of a Matthews McDavid playoff series but maybe try not to sound so disappointed it's in danger of not happening.

The F3 neutral zone support has been tremendous but the Jets sticking more to a strong side overload style D has helped huge. It’s much more suited to Bort, Stanley and Poolman and doesn’t require them to chase the likes of McD and Drai all over hells half acre. It’s allowed them to always have coverage in the middle of the ice and keep the play largely to the perimeter. Most of the Oilers chances are coming from their D after going low to high. Tbh, they look like the Jets from 2 weeks ago.

Maybe the biggest byproduct from all of this is how it’s kept them from taking penalties. People can cry about the Jets getting away with calls, but the first two games has not been about the refs, at all. They aren’t getting beat and ending up on the wrong side of the puck, they’re simply supporting and staying between their man and the net. The Oilers have had next to zero 2nd chances.
