Post-Game Talk: Jets ...win? Doesn't sound right

A win feels good......clinching a playoff spot feels even better. That all being said I have some doubts about our playoff success this year.......but time will tell lots of stuff can happen.

NHL is a weird league.

Every year in the playoffs there are crazy upsets. Coming off our darkest hour so maybe it’s our turn to surprise.

Now this should follow in the games to come IMO

1) Play Brossoit 3 of the 4 remaining games (Hellebuyck on the 10th).
2) Play BOTH Stanley and Heinola in these games to get them some playing experience before the playoffs.
3) Give Vesalainen, Harkins, and to a lesser extent Appleton more important roles to build their confidence. Use this time to give Scheifele and Wheeler a breath. I feel like Maurice just runs those two into the ground with way too many minutes a game.

assuming heinola plays for rest of season and playoffs....he will have played 10+ games which means it counts as a season on his rookie deal.
jets could have used him all season long but stubborn ass maurice going to waste a season of his cheap salary year only playing him the bare minimum.

this is just common sense to do these things.. therefor it wont happen because maurice is a goof

Yeah both of them should be resting from here on out. Give Dubois 1C duties, get Ves, Harkins playing the next 4 and get Heinola and Stanley out there at the same time. Give Forbort a long rest as well. Maybe even give Pionk and Morrissey a game off.
I think Helle should get at least 2 of the next 4. He usually gets rusty with long breaks. Give him game 2 and 4 of that set.

We had lost 7 in a row and needed a win to clinch a playoff spot, i have no problem with players ice times last night. Now that we have clinched i think guys like Harkins , Heinola, Stanley ect will get more ice time. I think Helly and Brossoit should split the last 4 games as well.

I would take that effort into the playoffs
nice to have a few bounces go our way

Wheeler played more like lowry out there and lowry played more like wheeler should out there
both good things for some reason
if dubois could just get a few into the back of the net he'd be fantastic

Yup, we need JoMo and Pionk to develop some chemistry. I thought both wanted to defer tonthe other a bit too much last night. Going to take a few games for them to get I sync and just play.

Heinola also needs to play to get up to speed as quickly as he can. Bring in Stanley as well.

Great to get the win and clinch the playoffs. Team played a disciplined,conservative game and gave Flames nothing. But we should reflect on the fact that (1) all our goals came off counters and odd man rushes or breakaways. It would have been nicer if we had periods of controlled play in the offensive zone and actually generated scoring attacks playing 5v5, and (2) that Calgary team looked very listlesss and out of sorts tonight - with none of the usual physicality and brashness. Nevertheless,our boys deserved to feel good about themselves after that game.

Yup there was zero offensive zone pressure tonight largely due to our first line being pretty inept. Still ill take it and it's another game they can build off of.

Insincerity hope they do a deep dive this summer and fix our offensive schemes.

Calgary has been awful this season and Toronto is definitely softer than Edmonton.
