Quick thoughts...

81-9-26 : Strong game. Copp is a beauty. His PK work is also outstanding. Wheeler was really effective without much offense. Connor needs to find his mitts. He started skating better as the game wore on.

85-20-27 : Eakin was not good. If he's supposed to do something, at least win a few key faceoffs. Perreault was okay. Ehlers with a couple of terrible plays, but he's been working hard.

58-17-28 : Lowry in beast mode. He's been a boss. Harkins with a great debut. Roslovic has had good jump. Would like to see him on PP 1.

58-21-38 : Nice game. Shore is really effective. Nothing much wrong with Bourque or Shaw.

44-12 DeMelo was quietly awesome. I'd still like more from Morrissey.

7-4 Kulikov was quite, playing with bite. Pionk continued his really shaky play. He's not in shape.

88-3 Poolman has been terrific. Beaulieu struggles with the puck.

Hellebuyck was solid.

Kudos to Maurice for having the team ready to play.
I think the 4th line needs some credit. Just played a simple, physical game. Probably wore the Flames D down a bit and got them a bit jumpy after an easy night in game one.

Kulikov is just a really solid defenseman when healthy. I really hope for him he can go on a long run of health.

Bang on synopsis, Eakin is not bringing much, no more than any AHL centre would also bring!

Imo the PP is still a major weak link for us right now. We got a goal but otherwise weren't dangerous at all outside of that Lowry chance.

They need to swap Morrissey and Pionk if they plan on trying to run the PP through Conner and Ehlers interchanging on the left side. Its easier to tee them up with a left shot dmen. What is happening right now is Pionk is deferring to Wheeler and it is forcing Wheeler to be the triggerman/one time shooter when that is not at all his strong suit. We need to open up Conner and Ehelers for one timers and that is best accomplished with Morrissey on the point.
I think especially without 55 and 29 we should go old school. Park a big body in front of the net and take a shot after shot. We don’t always have the ability to create finesse opportunities at the best of times and certainly not now.

Screen the goalie and pepper him with shots. I’d like to see lots of shots on goal for each pp.

Harkins was a second round pick who many had rated as a first rounder. It took him a while to find his game as a pro but once he got his skating down he started to be able to excel using his obvious smarts and skills.
Harkins' issue was his skating, particularly his quickness. He's worked hard to improve, and is now a good skater at the NHL level. He has very good hockey sense and good skills, which was why they drafted him, along with very good character.

PS I know Cloned from way - wayyyyy back. Back in the dark days when I was an Oilers fan :P

Very good poster.

I'm sure he is. It just isn't surprising to hear an Oilers fan say that Calgary's team is the scum of the earth.

I really think that even more with 29 we should go old school and take a shot after shot, Ovy like. Playmaker close, short distance passes.

Obviously that means those shooting opportunities will be of lower quality, but with much higher quantity and loads of potential rebounds that should be a no brainer as their long seam passes aren't connecting too often.
