Imo the PP is still a major weak link for us right now. We got a goal but otherwise weren't dangerous at all outside of that Lowry chance.
They need to swap Morrissey and Pionk if they plan on trying to run the PP through Conner and Ehlers interchanging on the left side. Its easier to tee them up with a left shot dmen. What is happening right now is Pionk is deferring to Wheeler and it is forcing Wheeler to be the triggerman/one time shooter when that is not at all his strong suit. We need to open up Conner and Ehelers for one timers and that is best accomplished with Morrissey on the point.

Such a very good post, and I totally agree, and Wheeler is not the guy you want trying one timers, as it's not his thing.
We have zero threat from point shots IMO, and Pionk's shot is not hard enough, although it's fairly accurate.
I'd really like to see Ehlers on the point, he has an underrated shot, and can also rush the puck in, if he sees an opening. I don't know why they wouldn't try him there. Also Ehlers is fast, and won't get caught on an odd man rush, as he would catch the guy.
The other option to fix this problem is use Laine on the point, as he'd have a great point shot. The downside is sometimes he fumbles the puck and gets caught on an odd man rush, and isn't fast enough to get back and catch the guy. I prefer Ehlers on the point, and Laine on the left wing to one time shots.
The other option that's way better than Pionk would be Morrissey, as surixon says, and he has a really good shot, and it's usually very accurate. We need a threat from the back end, and right now it's very clear that we're not getting it with Pionk there. I hope they change this up.
I'd like to see Ehlers or Morrissey at the point, to give us a threat from the back end of the powerplay.
