Calgary is gonna be in big trouble next round. Can barely beat us without arguably our two best players.

um, for that to happen that means Calgary has won the series against the Jets. So I say nooooo please! I’d rather Jets win the series and Calgary can be in “big trouble” in a future playoff

Super proud of the boys today. They needed some guys to step up today and they did.
Calgary has rarely looked really dangerous to me yet in this series. I think the Jets can take the series even if 55 and 29 don’t return. Having said that, I’m confident at least one of them will be back soon.
Ok I give Jets full credit for gutsy, character win, but I have 0 confidence Jets can win the series if both Scheifele and Laine are out the rest of the games.

I hope your right, as Kyle Connor has looked somewhat invisible so far, and not the impact type of player he usually is. He's probably a bit up tight, but it be nice to see him get going here.

We'll need his scoring magic to win this series.
What? I thought he was one of the Jets best forwards. Him and Roslo. He stole the puck to create breaks for himself and teammates multiple times. Roslo made a good break pass on Harkins goal, got a good tip towards the net on Lowry's and almost set lowry up for another on powerplay with his shot-pass. Also I didn't see either KC or Roslo make any dumb turnovers.

Imo the PP is still a major weak link for us right now. We got a goal but otherwise weren't dangerous at all outside of that Lowry chance.

They need to swap Morrissey and Pionk if they plan on trying to run the PP through Conner and Ehlers interchanging on the left side. Its easier to tee them up with a left shot dmen. What is happening right now is Pionk is deferring to Wheeler and it is forcing Wheeler to be the triggerman/one time shooter when that is not at all his strong suit. We need to open up Conner and Ehelers for one timers and that is best accomplished with Morrissey on the point.

Yeah the class of 2015 all had nice nights. It just took Conner a bit to work his way into the game. I think he is close to breaking out.

Just watched the game after taping it earlier - preliminary thoughts:

- Most excited I've been watching a Jets game in a long time - close, high-stakes, and solid play when needed

- Ehlers is my favourite Jet but even I was getting mad with the giveaway and subsequent bad penalty. He turned it around at a perfect moment though and what a time to finally score that first playoff goal! I really hope that can give him some confidence and get him rolling for the rest of the playoffs.

- I enjoyed Kyle Connor's play tonight too, looked explosive and dangerous out there

- Scheifele/Laine's absences were really felt on that 5-on-3 when everyone kept setting up ...Wheeler? for one-timers

- Hellebuyck still solid, team MVP for sure this year

- Harkins-Lowry-Roslovic was surprisingly a great line, and even the 4th was playing well

- Lots of needless penalties from both sides - hope we cut down on those but the Flames don't

- I assume this has been discussed but Scheifele and Laine both looked like they have a possibility to get back into this series (for example Laine seemed to be doing some dexterous things with his hands one time when they showed him). Fingers crossed because I think either of them returning would really energise the team

- Overall, awesome game to watch!!! Even if we end up losing, at least we made it interesting and got ourselves a proper series

The Jets are down their 1C, 2C, Laine and Apples yet the Flames were...
Out-goalied
Out-played
Out-coached
Out-scored
Flames better watch out, the next two games are on our home ice!!!!!!!!!

I'll eat crow. I called for the Jets to be manhandled, outscored by one and Helle would stand on his head. Glad I was wrong on all three.

Great gutsy performance by the team and I absolutely loved Lowry's game tonight.
Imagining this team with Buff and Little, too.

Quick thoughts...

81-9-26 : Strong game. Copp is a beauty. His PK work is also outstanding. Wheeler was really effective without much offense. Connor needs to find his mitts. He started skating better as the game wore on.

85-20-27 : Eakin was not good. If he's supposed to do something, at least win a few key faceoffs. Perreault was okay. Ehlers with a couple of terrible plays, but he's been working hard.

58-17-28 : Lowry in beast mode. He's been a boss. Harkins with a great debut. Roslovic has had good jump. Would like to see him on PP 1.

58-21-38 : Nice game. Shore is really effective. Nothing much wrong with Bourque or Shaw.

44-12 DeMelo was quietly awesome. I'd still like more from Morrissey.

7-4 Kulikov was quite, playing with bite. Pionk continued his really shaky play. He's not in shape.

88-3 Poolman has been terrific. Beaulieu struggles with the puck.

Hellebuyck was solid.

Kudos to Maurice for having the team ready to play.

Remember a slew of people that said Lowry is basically expendable, and then some people said he can be a difference maker in the playoffs?
Yup, I knew he would show his worth in the playoffs.

Such a very good post, and I totally agree, and Wheeler is not the guy you want trying one timers, as it's not his thing.

We have zero threat from point shots IMO, and Pionk's shot is not hard enough, although it's fairly accurate.

I'd really like to see Ehlers on the point, he has an underrated shot, and can also rush the puck in, if he sees an opening. I don't know why they wouldn't try him there. Also Ehlers is fast, and won't get caught on an odd man rush, as he would catch the guy.

The other option to fix this problem is use Laine on the point, as he'd have a great point shot. The downside is sometimes he fumbles the puck and gets caught on an odd man rush, and isn't fast enough to get back and catch the guy. I prefer Ehlers on the point, and Laine on the left wing to one time shots.

The other option that's way better than Pionk would be Morrissey, as surixon says, and he has a really good shot, and it's usually very accurate. We need a threat from the back end, and right now it's very clear that we're not getting it with Pionk there. I hope they change this up.

I'd like to see Ehlers or Morrissey at the point, to give us a threat from the back end of the powerplay.

You don't need a booming shot from the point to be successful on a PP as Ehlers goal showed and Lowry's for that matter but you have to shoot more from the point to make sure the other team believes you will .

Now hearing Maurice’s comments on Harkins a few times there is little doubt in my mind that Harkins will be a regular in the lineup going forward even if we get fully healthy. Well deserved IMO.

He has happy with him in the regular season as well. He's definitely a full time Jet now. Just needs to keep improving to become a key player.

looking at those graphics. man I wish our uniforms had more RED and Grey.
I'd love to see a third that is based off that red. Maybe go red primary and then use black and grey with a couple of pops of blue.

Oilers fan. It's pretty much genetic.
Sure it's normal to hate the Flames as an Oilers fan, just as it's normal for us to hate the Preds or Wild.

However, you don't need to be an Oilers fan to see what a POS team the Flames are. They're employing the Canucks from 2000 to 2015 theme: Have a mix of rats, dirty players and flopping softies. Truly hateable.
