My buddies where saying Melenchori or however you spell his name looked pretty good any truth to this?

had a rough start, but settled in...he left too much of a gap between himself and the attacking players resulting in some of the only sustained pressure by the oilers. He also seemed to have difficulty finding open ice as Trouba was forced to make some difficult passes in his own end.

I think Trouba made him look better than he actually is...but thats just my opinion

You know, some more seasoning for Melchiori and he could perhaps develop in a way similar to Postma or Redmond and maybe be a bottom pairing guy. Would love if he could.

some quick thoughts

Jokinen - was Ok. But the big guy is not a top 6 player anymore. He belongs on the 3rd line and I think he will excel there

Scheifele - He is much different then last year. He was a bystander I felt last year using his skill to produce. This year he is a creator. His passing skills are unreal. Looking forward to seeing him start the year between Seto and Kane.

Trouba - Just so much better tonight. He may not be 100 percent ready for prime time but is a great package of size, toughness and skill

Buff - I thought he was ok he was sure flying and he looks much faster this year. He will be ready for the start of the season

Melchori - Really impressing me. His speed is very noticeable for a guy his size. I thought he may have been the best D last night for the Jets

Frolik - This is the player we got and it really paid dividends late in the game. Defensive workhorse doing all the little things. Love his game.

Tangradi - Kind of preseason game he needs if he wants a steady job. He can be a load when he works his butt off. Good solid night and got rewarded

O'Dell - Better game from him but he in my mind is down on the Rock this season

Peluso - Just a solid effective 9 minutes from the big man. Oilers had a tougher lineup dressed but you hardly noticed they wanted nothing to do with the big man. Got a goal and played defense one shift great night.

Postma - Good game overall. Needs more nights like this and I think he will have them

Klingberg - I was a bit surprised he didn't get some PP time. He was working his butt off and got a nice goal. Another guy that will go down to the Rock to start the year but could be on the 1st call up list

I don't think Melch would ever have a similar offensive game to those two, but he could turn out to be a nice bottom pairing / PK guy. He plays a simple, low risk game. I could envision him as a player that you will see all game, but never notice.

I'd rather have that than Stuart, tbh.

That was my fiancee's first time at a hockey game. She didn't totally hate it, so maybe there's some hope.

We had Oilers fans behind us that commented on literally everything. At one point during intermission the woman was telling everyone how society was terrible these days because everyone was on their phones. Ughhhhhhhh

Mom, is that you? Mom?

No, seriously, sounds as if my parents were sitting behind you.

Although, my Dad's biggest bugaboo is the teen boys with the low hanging pants. I'll swear he's going to have a stroke about that.

Thanks to everyone posting their thoughts on the players. It's great to read differing opinions. I didn't and won't mind Jokinen as a #3. Clitsome was good. Wright can't finish but I still like the idea of him as #4 LW. Him, Slater and Peluso should be able to eat up a bunch of clock. Still impressed with Seto's pass in the first. Tangradi played big. Frolik can play. I am pretty sure I saw Scheif win a puck battle against a dman. No complaints from the game.

If your fourth line is Wright Slater Peluso, where does tangradi fit in? For me Tangradi>Wright

I've liked Peluso since he first came up. I hope he can stick on the fourth line. I'd rather him than Thorburn.

Much as I dislike Tangradi, I agree.
Tangradi Slater Peluso.
I should say I don't dislike him, I dislike him on our third line.

I am probably your dad's age and I always tell all the young guys I know that wear them REALLY low........."take lots of pictures" because you will look back with your kids one day and howl!!!
It doesn't bother me because that is the nature of fashion and I remember my gen was the first one where young guys could have long hair and bell bottoms and that stuff was pretty funny to look back on until the "That 70's TV show" made the styles retro cool again. It's like the really short basketball shorts that Bird and Magic wore.......they look hilarious now but will boomerang again at some point.

I agree. I liked Wright's efforts last season, but I think I would put Halischuk and Frolik on the 3rd, and have Tangradi and Peluso with Slater on the 4th.

Wright's defensive ability and particularly penalty killing is being severely underestimated. Tangradi has good hands and can move well for a guy his size, but if it comes down to it, as a 4th line winger, Wright is more valuable IMO.

How could anyone disagree with this? This is the best lineup that we can ice at this time. :handclap::handclap:
