Good point and there is always hope but Olli looked terrible tonight.

Let's hope that tonight's showing put an exclimation point on the Kane Olli experiment. They just don't work at all and Scheifelw looks much better with them.

As an aside Scheifele looks like he can have chemistry with anyone. He looked very good with Frolik tonight!

On my way home...

I lost my uhm stuff when Peluso scored!

For anyone at the game I was the guy in section 117 screaming "kneel at the alter of you god Tony Peluso"

If you recognize me, I apologize.

Schiefle was good, goes hard to the net and is defensively responsible. If Noel does not put him with Kane he is out of his mind...

Does need face off work tho..

I am getting chirped by oiler fans about the jets barely beating a mostly full ahl team

Well they did sit out pretty much 4 of the top 6. And 2 top 3 D-men. And starter in goal.

We sat out 3 of our top 6, and 2 of our top 3 D as well. So its fairly even. I don't care if they sat out 3rd and 4th liners.

What does everyone think of the battle on D at this point. For spots 6, and 7

Still seems like anyones game, lots of games left. I thought Trouba and Postma had better games tonight. Redmond and White both average in 1st games. Should be interesting.

IMO Trouba will only make it as the #6, unless we start with 8, to give him some regular season games, and go from there.

Well he is half right

He was fine in our end and away from the puck. Problem was with the puck, did not make much happen. Did not connect any nice passes, shooting from bad angles, etc. With our top 6, it is pretty good, but with no super stars we need depth. We can't have 2 4th lines. Frolik, Halischuk, Tangradi should be fine, im worried about Joker though.

Hmmm Kane plays with Scheif in game 1 and is the 1st star. Frolik plays with him in game 3 and is the 1st star. Is there a pattern here?

Mark does need work on face offs.

Scheifele has been like the anti-Jokinen in his two preseason games. Every time he touches the puck it seems like there's offense created.

Can't get too excited over preseason, but there's no question he's been a standout so far.

Just got home from the game and was sitting behind 4 Oilers fans. I swear the guy in front of us guys out of his way to seek out fans for the other team to use his seats.

My thoughts:

Trouba had a much improved game, and he showed some glimpses of what he can bring to the table. The jury is still out on if he should stick.

Postma had a better game, but still prone to some bad lapses. I wish he was on a 2-way. I can see him traded at some point in the near future.

Buff definitely looked slimmer.

Scheifele started slow but overall had a pretty strong game.

Frolik was a steal for a couple mid round picks. He is big and fast and can handle the puck.

Olli was okay, but to me he slows Kane down. Kane was no where near the offensive threat he was on Saturday.

Wright just may be the the NHL player who has the least goal scoring touch in the league.

Lawless is more like Good Ol' JR than a real sports journalist. A lot of his takes are dubious and contrarian. Or he'll see a guy do something well once and run with that player being effective.

have to disagree - thought he was pretty brutal in our end and away from the puck not to mention a neutral zone disaster

his best defensive work was shutting down Kane and Seto :)

Is there a more frustrating player on the ice than Wright? Jeeeeeez.

Meh, I'm pretty happy with him playing 10 minutes killing penalties. He can hit the opposing zone with a clearance if he can't hit the 4x6. If he can form a good combo with Peluso cycling the puck and keeping it out of our end, that would be great.

no no no no no no no no no no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not surprised in least coming from Noel! That line was probably the worst line on the ice for us especially given the talent level. Looks like Noel's bias is already reeling its head, must do everything in his power to make excuses for a vet.

my only issue with this is that there are clearly better options - he would be 3rd unit PK at any rate
