Kind of overly complimentary for Oilers. After the first 2 games, they've looked bad even in the games they've won. As Devils fans said it, "the fakest undefeated team in the league" at the time.

I think it's just more about the shutout. This defence has been a question mark and seeing them zero McDavid and Draisatl is promising, not to mention there were other developments to like such as seeing the immediate impact of getting Little back by having the Lowry line back in form with Copp on it.

And I think this is the key: it's not like we "goalied" them -- we held the edge all game in xG, we were quick to converge on rebound opportunities, and our PK actually looked far better than the, heh, 55% success rate would suggest.

Sure we got some bounces. Sure we got lucky. Every team that ever wins one game got lucky that game, the only variable is how lucky. But we showed we could bring it and ring it against one of the best. I like what I saw; we all should too.

Helle and Ehlers have been our best players this season.

I though laine also had a very good game.

could he be developing into a true power forward before our eyes?

I still say he will be a very solid player.

kind of why I wanted him on a long term deal instead of connor.

pay him now because it is going to cost a lot more in 2 seasons

I agree, I'm not familiar with analytics, but Laine looked like he had a pretty good game. A few noticeable power moves and dangles that he didn't really make in previous seasons. Not to mention that glorious pass to Dhalstrom.

Oilers fans are complaining about mcdavid and draisatl playing too much as well.

They are good though. They continuously generate offense and lead the league, offense continuously dies on Wheelers stick. His passing and thought process is off. How many times today did he just pass it out of the offensive zone and we had to reset offside?

I'm also bullish on Laine. So is Laine himself. I don't think he considered any long term deals this summer.

He's not scoring and teams pay for goals not improved play.

so how can he win in your opinion?

in his first years he was crapped upon for too much standing around and waiting for the puck.

now he is playing a more 200 foot game. fighting on the boards and hitting people.

what do you want?

a pure sniper or someone who has bought into the style of game the coach wants?

I prefer players that are adept at both ends of the ice

Not like you need stats to tell it but Lowry and Copp are so good together, having Little back is gonna help in more ways than one. 54 % and 58 % Corsi 5v5 and they give up virtually no real scoring chances which is not new but they also generated alot tonight and if they keep it up, they're gonna start producing. Copp can handle himself at 2C but he's just so much better with Lowry and vice-versa.

A guy who plays a 200 ft game that you can count on to score. Barzal is doing that and getting less than 12 mil.
