The Top 10 from Last August's HFJets forum poll:
1 - Lambert
2 - Salomonsson
3 - Yager
4 - Heinola
5 - Barlow
6 - Chibrikov
7 - Lucius

As of today, IMO:
1 - Chibrikov
2 - Salomonsson
3 - Lambert
4 - Walton
5 - Yager
6 - He
7 - Lucius
8 - Freij
9 - Barlow
10 - DiVincentiis

Chibrikov and Lambert both played a few games during Ehlers' injury. Chibrikov in particular looked pretty good - fiesty & skilled.

Salomonsson has been injured but seemed like a rare bright spot on the Moose D this year - good showing for a 1st year NA pro.

Walton & He are both having ridiculous seasons in the OHL. Walton's got the size and skill - even if it was only shown in flashes last year - that makes us wonder how he fell so far in the draft.

Yager is pretty good - he just inherited McGroarty's spot since that trade happened halfway through the polls last summer. If he keeps up his pace in Lethbridge the rest of the way he's bound to move back up.

Lucius' injury history is troubling but he's played for a stretch in the AHL and is starting to come around. Obvious skill, just injury concerns (and so much missed development time) holding him back.

Freij - seems to be having a respectable D+1 in the league below the SHL.

Barlow is having a(nother) tough year.

DiVincentiis has been having a better season than Milic. I don't really think the Jets have anything but longshot backups in the pipe. Long live Hellebuyck.

Heinola has graduated, and I don't think Rashevsky is ever going to come over.

Thanks for this -- interesting read.

Struck by these notes about Walton: "Walton’s skating has gone to another level this season and the results speak for themselves [he] has fantastic touch, pucks are on and off his stick in a hurry."

Improved skating and mobility seem crucial for NHL success, but the comment on just how good his first touch is pointed to another reason for his elevated totals this season -- Walton plays fast, which seems exactly suited to the Jets playstyle this year and hopefully going forward.

Nice writeup on He also -- hard to believe that He's only 5'11'' ad 185, given his skating and forechecking power. Two or more impact players out of a thin draft (for the Jets, given their number or picks) would be a serious jolt for the pipeline.

He and Walton both have solid NHL potential. They also provide a classic prospect assessment issue. Walton appears to have a higher ceiling but He seems more likely to hit his ceiling.

For Walton I think it's all about how hard and consistently he's willing to work to improve. With his size and skillset, his ceiling is high.

I'm still leery of Lucius' injury history. I need to see him survive a lot longer than he has so far.

I'm not that down on Barlow, but for now, others have passed him.

Freij is only that low because he hasn't come to NA and succeeded here yet. I expect him to climb fairly quickly but time will tell.

I still have high hopes for DD but his sv% in the ECHL is nothing special. He still has 2-3 years to develop.

Lambert still has quite a way to go. Its a little hard to judge with the Moose being so bad this year but he is one of the players who should be leading them to better results if he is truly a top 6 prospect.

Chibrikov showed well in his few NHL games but he hasn't been as good as hoped in the AHL this year either.

Salomonsson and Yager are my untouchables right now.

Might be wishful / positive thinking, but for some reason the fact that Lambert and Chibrikov looked decent in their albeit short stints with the Jets, but haven't put up much offense with the Moose gives me some hope that it's more a reflection on the Moose then those players.

Which then gives me a little more hope for Lucius as well.

There's one wildcard still with Zach Nehring, he's a big boy at 6'5" and seems to be developing nicely on a good Western Michigan team. Sixth on the team in points, currently riding a 3 game point streak, likes to muck it up in front of the net and on the boards. I don't know if he'll be an NHL player but the size and playstyle is encouraging. He gets time on the power play and parks himself in the slot, good at getting his stick on pucks and mucking it up in front of the net. Knows how to maneuver his big frame to get body position. I don't know where he ranks among our prospects, he'll spend another year in college at least, but he's an interesting player.

His shot is for real,the truth is in the numbers,his release is top shelf.

And remember when we re-signed Helle and Scheifele and everyone laughed at us because we should be rebuilding. Love or hate Chevy in some of his decisions, but this team is built for long term success.
 
I appreciate Walton's progress this year but to put him ahead of Team Canada's U20 captain after half a season is premature IMHO
