On one hand it’s still too early to care, but on the other hand he had a full beard at 17 and may have already maxed out physically. Wish the Jets took a C like Ritchie instead

There are quite a few prospects taken after Barlow who are looking very good. Centres, RHD, wingers, but that is all hindsight. I think most of us were pretty happy with the pick at the time.

Agreed. Some players taken after have looked really good.

HockeyProspect.com was very high on Barlow and had him 6th so my hope is that the things that they saw in him are still there and will flourish. Skating still seems like it could be an issue though.

I think that skating is the only issue that is visible right now. If he improves that, other things may surface, like HIQ for example. I'm not too concerned with his current lack of production. He is adapting to a new team and is still getting plenty of shots. With his shot, they will start going in. I am more concerned with his lack of assists. I hope that comes around.

@AavcoCup on Twitter has been pretty low on him. Said he was a ways away from the NHL last season, even before his current struggles.

Of course, AC decided long ago that he no longer wanted to express his opinions on this forum, where someone might actually challenge him and put forward compelling arguments as to why he could be wrong. So, I long ago stopped giving a f*** what he thinks.

Well Aavco has pretty good takes on twitter (which I agree with most of the time). IIRC he left this board when this place was being insufferable during the 17-18 playoff run constantly shitting on Helle. So I can't really blame him :dunno:

I think he is the best on Jets twitter with information on Jets and Jets prospects as he probably watches Jets prospects the most outside of people in the organization.

Yeah he's really good for Jets related info, especially prospects. Definitely worth a follow if anyone still uses twitter.

He's point performance so far (small sample size, i'm sure it will fall off) is already 3x higher than his last season in the OHL at this time of year. Getting drafted and going to camp lit a fire under his ass, because he did not compete at this level in the beginning of last year from what I can tell. Napkin math (which does not take in to account injury or slumps, which obviously are unpredictable) would put him at 164 points to finish the season which although definitely wont happen, indicates there's a very good chance he finishes with at least 100 if he keeps this pace up. I'm gonna predict he finishes with 118. Wyatt Johnstons 2021/22 year landed him at 124.
