Prospect Info: Jets Prospects

I put little stock in a 5 game tournament. The whole team was a colossal mess from the start.
As I said before, I believe Yager’s lacklustre WJC’s was more a reflection of his utilization and chemistry with an offensively challenged group and is not indicative of future success or upside.
Hope so. Still, he was okay but I think we were all hoping to a little more.

Came across an interesting read on defensemen breakout rates. It just so happened to list the top HA D at performing successful breakouts and Alfons Freij was number 2. That’s a good sign to me! Love me some defence that can get the puck moving the other way.

Interesting read in and of itself in case anyone is interested.

Thanks for sharing. I agree that quick retrieval and breakouts are an increasingly important part of NHL hockey. Good to see that Freij is good at that. He's also showing a lot of promise generating offense in the O zone.

Glad I could contribute! Yeah, happy to see that. Definitely think I’ve been ignoring him with everything else we have going on. Hope he comes along well.

Me too. Have liked the little I've seen of him but good to see he's showing well at an area of the game the Jets can use. He's a great skater who seems to see the play well and has excellent hands and passing.

Why is his production so low

27 primary points in a row. I watched half a period and was very unimpressed with his game but you can't argue with the results
I'd argue that the first two points in that last highlight shouldn't have ended up in the net, but since all the players in the league play vs the same goalies it's apples apples and anyone who puts up points in thr CHL will have the same types of points

That said, he's had plenty of great plays this season and i dont want to take anytning away from his progress. I'm just trying to figure out how his production will translate at higher levels

If Walton keeps up this pace, would he have a legit shot at making the World Juniors with Canada?

6th round picks almost never make the junior team but he's putting up insane point totals and has good size.

So what is going on with Barlow and Lucius?. Barlow was not even invited to the WJC, and his production has really declined. Lucius has been hurt, but his numbers look less than impressive.

Will they join Vesalainen as the Jets 1st round busts?

Its a bit early to throw in the towel on Barlow, he is a natural sniper, we will really just have to wait. He isnt the high pace two way player the WJC team goes for. For Lucius it really depends if he can stay healthy, some players reach their peak early and some keep developing. We will need to wait and see but I am not holding my breath. More interested in yager, chib, lambert, he, and walton right now.

Flames fan here coming in peace...

So I live in Lethbridge and as I' sure you all know Yager was traded here to teh Hurricanes a little before the WJC... well he's involved in a new charitable initiative with the team and SRI Homes (they make manufactured homes), it's called "Yager-bombs" and for every point he gets, SRI makes a donation to the Alzheimer's Society... my friend works for SRI and said that the company wanted a different charity but Yager insisted it be the Alzheimer's Society as he recently lost his grandfather wo had Alzheimer's.
