When do contending CHL teams usually make their trades to load up? It would be great if Yager could get traded to a contending team (like he was on last year), and go through another Memorial Cup run.
Christmas-New Years holiday time is usually when the big trades happen. He'll probably be traded during the World Juniors and then report after.

Yager has 30 points on 67 goals scored by Moose Jaw since his first game on October 4th. I'm not entirely sure if there is any association between the ratio of team goals a player is involved in and future success, but I think it's difficult to score a bunch of points on a team that's as relatively low scoring as Moose Jaw is.
Percentage of teams goals is a pretty telling stat.

Probably one of the best predictors of future success in my opinion.
That was the primary stat that Brayden Point really stood out on in his draft year (91 points in 72 games, next best teammate had 55 points and was 2 years older...). It's interesting to contrast that with a Nick Petan, who scored ridiculous numbers in his draft year (120 points in 71 games), but was 1/3rd of an extremely high scoring trio. Context matters immensely for projecting these junior guys.

Oddly enough with Petan...none of the top line ever amounted to much. The 5th scorer on that Memorial Cup winning squad was Oliver Bjorgstrand who is by far the most successful player from that team (along with Seth Jones). Ya never know.

And none of Petan's high-scoring linemates panned out either...and all 3 of them are in the KHL now. Petan was the youngest of the three. I'm still not sure if it was something other than talent that held him back...like attitude, mentality, work ethic.

It's kind of interesting that so many "advanced stats" promoters don't even include basic adjustments for team offense or special teams. There is some evidence that ES point production in juniors is more predictive of future NHL production for defensemen, but it's usually ignored and the total point production metrics are used, instead. Not very "advanced" stats, it seems to me.

A big deal is coming but likely after the World Juniors. Everett is a really good team and I can see them pushing for him. They could use a game changer up front but a few teams will want him.
Not sure I see the fit/need, but forwards are certainly more of a weakness than defense is for the Tips. I think they need some more size up front... but if a deal doesn't cost the Tips too much I would certainly have no issue with Yager joining them. :)

Stylistically (stylistically, people) Walton is more Tage Thompson than Lowry. Doesn't use his size to his advantage as much as you'd like, not a good defensive game, but silky hands and a good shot.
I’ll be happy if Walton ends up up a Coyle or Tuch level player. I’d consider that a win with where the Jets got him.

He has time to develop his D-game, but I think it is good he is not use his size atm. Bullying smaller kids with size now wont translate in AHL.

I don't think he's much like either of those players in terms of skillset or style.

He's more like Tage Thompson at the very top end, but with less effort and drive, perhaps. Thompson was praised for his strong work ethic at that stage. Walton has a lot of skill and offensive upside but will need to work really hard to translate that to effective NHL play... probably 4 years away.

He's definitely the type of bet I'm more then happy to take at the end of the draft.

I think we should be worried about Barlow as a prospect. His production fell off in his D+1 season and now is nosediving in his D+2 season and we are seeing nothing else develop in his game. He is playing mostly against kids younger than him now in the OHL and should be a force.
Was hoping he was going in direction of paul McLean ,but with stiff body movements starting to look more like lain Duncan except with a shot and little less hitting.but watching game against Owen sound right now.

Unfortunately with barlow alot has to do with coaching, they don't want him to expand his game they need him setting up for the one timer.i think a different approach to him would help.i shouldn't say I can watch him as much as I want,I should of said as much without getting a divorce.

One of the things this board is short of is posters that watch the prospects play regularly. Please post away on what you see. Thanks.
I have the ohl/whl/qmjh package

The biggest thing I notice in barlows game is when the Puck goes into his corner,he hesitates to go get it this year, its like he is conditioned to let his center get on it and place himself at the face off dot, setting up for a shot,I see that alot.

You look at his goal Saturday to put them up 3-2 that was a goal scorers goal, going on the breakaway and then calmly deke the goalie, personally I think with coaching he has traits you can't teach, but only time will tell

The OHL coaches don't want him to be an effective player for their team for whom they gave up a lot of assets? I find that hard to believe.

I didn't say they don't want him to be an effective player,I'm saying his shot from the dot is second to none, and they sure want to utilize that,I also feel he goes out of his way to pass to senneke who is a great player,he takes less shots but I haven't looked at year to year shot totals, but when you got Richie and senneke (probably spelling both wrong)you have alot of moving parts to adjust to.
