In around Christmas and a little after. A good many players get traded while away at the World Juniors.

A big deal is coming but likely after the World Juniors. Everett is a really good team and I can see them pushing for him. They could use a game changer up front but a few teams will want him.

When do contending CHL teams usually make their trades to load up? It would be great if Yager could get traded to a contending team (like he was on last year), and go through another Memorial Cup run.

Christmas-New Years holiday time is usually when the big trades happen. He'll probably be traded during the World Juniors and then report after.

Yager has 30 points on 67 goals scored by Moose Jaw since his first game on October 4th. I'm not entirely sure if there is any association between the ratio of team goals a player is involved in and future success, but I think it's difficult to score a bunch of points on a team that's as relatively low scoring as Moose Jaw is.

That was the primary stat that Brayden Point really stood out on in his draft year (91 points in 72 games, next best teammate had 55 points and was 2 years older...). It's interesting to contrast that with a Nick Petan, who scored ridiculous numbers in his draft year (120 points in 71 games), but was 1/3rd of an extremely high scoring trio. Context matters immensely for projecting these junior guys.

Oddly enough with Petan...none of the top line ever amounted to much. The 5th scorer on that Memorial Cup winning squad was Oliver Bjorgstrand who is by far the most successful player from that team (along with Seth Jones). Ya never know.

And none of Petan's high-scoring linemates panned out either...and all 3 of them are in the KHL now. Petan was the youngest of the three. I'm still not sure if it was something other than talent that held him back...like attitude, mentality, work ethic.

It's kind of interesting that so many "advanced stats" promoters don't even include basic adjustments for team offense or special teams. There is some evidence that ES point production in juniors is more predictive of future NHL production for defensemen, but it's usually ignored and the total point production metrics are used, instead. Not very "advanced" stats, it seems to me.
