Nathan Smith with 2G1A tonight.
2 games, 6 pts. Good start. His pattern seems to have been fast start, then slow fade. Lets hope he can keep it up this year.

I think it's 5 points so far (2g 3a), based on the game sheets from MSU-Mankato.2 games, 6 pts. Good start. His pattern seems to have been fast start, then slow fade. Lets hope he can keep it up this year.

Looks like they retroactively added an assist, meaning he had 2G2A yesterday.Something must have been changed. EP shows 2G, 4A.
It's not in the game sheet on the MSU-M site.Looks like they retroactively added an assist, meaning he had 2G2A yesterday.
That doesn't really mean much, they don't go back and switch every boxscore when a point gets retroactively added or taken away. With that being said the NCAA seems to be having some weird data issues all around right now so we'll see how it ends up.

As an aside, that was the #1 team in the NCAA that Mankato beat twice this weekend and they were very much led by Smith in both games. Seen a couple tweets predicting he'll be a Hobey Baker candidate this season.
Any chance he might be signed after his NCAA season ends?

Could he be our Appleton replacement?
He plays a very different game, from my viewings. Creative player who has a much less N/S style than Apples, with less straight line speed and forechecking. He's a lot of fun to watch much a lot of his best stuff happens in the OZ as he finds weak spots and makes quick plays. He's more like our KHL prospect Rash overall, I'd suspect, though probably with less upside. But who knows? He's a late bloomer with a weird path into hockey.
Appleton was a very, very effective player in college and later rounded out in the A. Would be great to see NS succeed but not sure where he'd fit going forward, TBH.
I was voting for him quite early on in our prospect polls. I think people are going to be very surprised by how good he is considering where he ended up on our rankings. So, Nathan Smith has 2 goals and 3 assists in his 1st two games this season, in 2-0 and 6-3 road wins against the #1 ranked NCAA team (going into the series - UMass).
He's got a real Hobey Baker vibe...
He’s a free agent Aug 15, 2023, per cap friendly. He would have to be otherwise he can become a UFA I think.
Good start for him but the kid turns 23 in a couple of weeks. I always have a hard time getting excited about real old college players lighting it up.

Yes, I would think that the Jets will make a push to try to sign him this summer. The Jets do have some fluidity and potential space in their middle / bottom-6 on the NHL roster going forward. Copp and Stastny seem possible / probably lost via free agency. He’s a free agent Aug 15, 2023, per cap friendly.
Lucius with his 1st assist at Minnesota, in the first period of his first game.
Blaisdell with a power play assist.
Yeah I think there was some sort of exception made due to COVID. He's playing for New Hampshire. Also they took his assist away.Who's he playing for this year? I thought he wasn't able to play in the NCAA due to that switching rule.

Nathan Smith with the only goal of the game going into the 3rd period.
