He's still on pace for more goals and points than last season, idk how that's stagnating especially for a 5th round pick on a player who was a double overager in the draft.
He's still a very young forward in the KHL and the fact he's playing this well in Dynamo Moscows top 6 at such an early age is a good sign.

Stagnating has nothing to do with his age or where he was drafted. Flatlining is flatlining.

His scoring pace regressed last year from the year before. This year he has rebounded to almost the same pace as the year before last. No progress, just recovery from a disappointing season last year. Looks stagnant to me.

Yeah it sounds harsh but I think I agree with you here Mort.

I low-key gave up on Rashevsky as a prospect after he signed another 2 year deal in the KHL this summer. Not sure he is ever gonna come over to NA and even if he does, he's going to be 25 at the earliest, with his meh production he's gonna have to spend time in the AHL which he's not gonna like and before you know it he's hitting UFA. Would've been a different story if he came over this summer as then even with mediocre production there could have been path to the NHL for him in sight. As such I don't think this prospect is worth emotionally investing yourself in if you are a Jets fan.

I learned my lesson with Ivan Telegin. I want to see a Russian that the Jets develop and makes the top 6 for the Jets.

In defense of Rashevsky, his production isn't meh. It's good. It just hasn't really gotten much better and his cold streaks are ice cold. He's tied for the team league in goals, 4th in points. He just turned 23 in October, he's producing well in the 2nd best league in the world, he just hasn't taken the steps forward that we hoped to see.

Injuries did Telegin in, also he was a long shot to begin with.

He was a Thrashers draft pick so we can't be held accountable for his busting.

Fun fact: During his brief time in Winnipeg, Telegin had his hair cut by our stylist in River Heights. Although calling what he does to my hair as styling is really stretching it. Basically, shaves it down to stubble. So, I have two degrees of separation from Telegin. And Chevy, but that's another story.

We started off the season with all these prospects and it’s been a weird year for sure so far. Four of our top prospects battling injuries (Ville, Barlow, Groats, and Alfie). Da Vinci code taking a big step backwards.

Outside the AHL this has been a bit of a bumpy ride.

Hasn't been a year yet, but how are we feeling about Jacob Julien?

edit: tried to drag a quote in here from Joe H in the Draft Pick thread but failed miserably. Anyway, Joe said give it a year and we'll all love the pick.

McGroarty unsurprisingly named to Team USA's U20 preliminary roster but his status/availability is still questionable.
Hopefully he's good to go. I feel like even if Barlow's back from injury he won't be on the team. DiVincentiis is starting to look like a longer shot. Would suck to only have Salomonsson and Wagner at the tournament.

Yeah, I don't think DiVincentiis makes it based on his play. There's obviously contributing factors like his health and the Battalion being a bad/middle of the pack at best team but for a short, single elimination tournament you need someone at their peak.

Yeah he's had a real rough patch since a hot start.

Just circling back on the Rashevsky talk. He's probably more accomplished than we might realize at first glance.

No KHL players under 24 has scored more points or goals than him over the last 3 seasons + this season to date. Having just recently turned 23, he's tracking really well.

He's a high motor goal scorer who's average over 30 goals per 75 KHL games over his career and should transition directly to NHL when his time comes.

Garret in his substack mentioned that his injury might be just a bruised tailbone, not sure where he got that info from as they've been pretty tight lipped but he's good with his info, if that's the case there's a good chance he plays in WJCs.

I think the discussion here is if he's worth all that for the Jets, not whether his numbers are impressive in isolation. He'll be 25 the earliest he can come to NA, that is if he chooses to to come to NA, just 2 seasons away from UFA. If he 2as posting numbers like a Kaprizov/Panarin that's one thing to keep the fans excited. But someone whose production is just ok, who is not coming over till 25 if ever, just makes it tough to be excited about him as a prospect is all.

I hope to be wrong but I am seeing it a tough path for him to be on the Jets in the NHL.

I'd be looking to use him as an add to a trade. We have a glut of winger prospects.

He's definitly not going to have the Panarin/Kaprizov impact although two seasons ago his numbers may have suggested potential superstardom. In turn, this may be why his hype has faded.

Why I'm still bullish on Rashevsky is that I think his playing style might be better suited for the generally smaller ice surfaces of the NHL. He's very good in tight spaces, strips a lot of pucks, and does well making and finishing plays in traffic. He's also got one of the best one-timers in the organization, which should translate well in the NHL. Who knows where he'll fit on the 2025-26 roster, but I know he'll make a strong push for some top 9 minutes.
