Post-Game Talk: Jets lose to that team 4-1, that team still sucks

The Jets are so puck slow, it's painful to watch at times. 44 should not be on PP1.

Morrissey has zero offensive accumen.... never has had. I'm a fan, but his game needs to be physical and d first for him to be effective.

In order for this Jets team to win, you have to have your 50 goal scorer in Connor producing, and Scheifele has to be more consistent, and turn into a real leader. You can see a big hole in the offence when Ehlers is out, but you still have to find a way to win when you have injuries. ( no excuses)

I still think we're missing size and physicality on defense, and a some D men who can blast the the puck from the point. Buff and Trouba were good for that, especially Buff, so we're going to need to rebuild that defence.

Didn't take long for the preseason optimism to leave. Ehlers is out, and it's disrupted the entire forward core. If one player is that important to the transition effectiveness of the team, your team is far more flawed than you're willing to admit. System play will only cover so much. If you can't score, you're not going to win games. This team is comfortably in the bottom third in the league in generating chances. They don't have a defense that's good enough to defend, they don't have forwards that are good enough to transition their way out of troubles, and are banking on the goaltender to win games for them again. Eat at Arby's.

I will try my best to allow Bowness some patience — that’s fair. But I’m pretty annoyed with last season still that it’s hard to give this team leeway.

I might take a step back this week and just eyeball the score and instead watch Halloween movies.

Not making excuses but the Jets are coming off a 3 games in 4 nights road trip ... most teams are sluggish on their first home game back from a tough road trip especially early in the season.

Yeah, the numbers obviously aren't indicative of much with only a handful of games. It does say the scoring chances probably haven't been much to write about though.

I feel less annoyed at a lot of the players this season than last. I feel like the effort is at least mostly there.

The start of the season is just reinforcing my annoyance that Chevy did nothing this offseason.

Don't worry guys, season just ended today, Leafs won the cup infront of all there fake Jets fans. Crazy how this one game each year, so many Jets fans sell their tickets for this game (I used to be one) because of certain people in the crowd. Jets management should just allow only Jets fans to this game, if Leafs fans here in the city don't like it they can move with the Leafs back to Toronto with them. Don't care how many Stanley cups they have, if we were apart of the original 6 we would have many cup banners ourselves as all original 6 teams have a stanley cup.

Virtually every stoppage they're talking about Matthews or some Leafs player.

Morrissey's hit compared to one that injured Bobby Orr was rediculous.

they literally set a pick, it was pretty much the same thing they call jmo for but in the zone, of course there was going to be a break down...

Yeah our offensive generation has been largely non existent. I think they will Improve as the team gets more familiar with the schemes but even then when you dress and play an offensively inept line major minutes you have to hope your top 6 is firing on all cylinders.

I fully expect Kyle and Mark to get going but they need to find a way to drive chances without Ehlers to do it for them.

Second line ince again has looked good but they need much better finish from Blake.

Speaking of Blake he is off to another slow start and we just can't afford that.

I'm a huge Perfetti fan so I'm really happy with his play but if he as a 20 year old rookie is arguably your best forward then a number of players aren't playing well enough.

One other thing we can't afford is poor special teams and our special teams have been poor. Honestly is this coaching staff just using last year's tapes of the mediocre pp we ran? It's exactly the same pp with the same shape, slow and predictable puck and player movement.

If you want a more modern looking PP get Perfetti and Heinola out on PP 1 with Conner and Dubois. Have Scheifele down low and tell him to walk the puck in and shoot. You need motion and and quick puck movement and our pp has none of that. Just real poor coaching.

Looking at the stats the Jets have 3 players currently producing at 1st line caliber in Fly, Dubois and Perfetti. After that we have Wheeler at barely 2nd line caliber, Schiefele and Gus at third caliber and Gagner at good fourth line caliber. The rest are at poor fourth line caliber or have goose eggs next to their name.

Conner has one 5 on 5 assist so far this year, that's not good enough.

Ya i'm at the point where it's time to go to 5 forwards on our PP too. We just don't have a defenseman with the offensive awareness needed to QB a PP . Or give Heinola a shot at it.

They were a quiet 3 points. His shooting hands have left him so far this year and he's forcing it. I'm sure it's only temporary but he hasn't started the way people would think the reigning Hart winner would (or should).

No surprise, the sky is falling on HF Jets after a loss.

I said with the new systems and tough schedule to start, being 500 after 9 games would be considered a success.

They have a lot of stuff to clean up, but I've seen encouraging signs. If we're a month in and we haven't seen a marked improvement, I'll be worried. I do think it's becoming apparent that we need another top 6 forward though, but I think we'll likely just roll with what we have at least until Christmas.
