Not trying to rub it in but did anyone see the Tyler Myers play against Vegas ? I would have been pissed if he was still a Jet and did that . He didn't even try to skate back , and i can't stand watching a player do that . Even if you are completely bagged , you still bury your head and try . 6 million NOT well spent .

Not if you are a giraffe. Put your head down and trip over it. jk Tyler.

It was pretty bad looking. Don't know what he was thinking - or if he was thinking.

They're debating whether they would trade Ghost for Connor one for one. Some of them think Connor is overachieving
To be fair quite a few said they would give up any player except their 2 or 3 stars. I got a good laugh out of them calling Helle Vulcan Ears.

He is on a 16-17 pt pace so the offense hasn't been there either. Ben Chiarot is on a 27 pt pace.

BTW, Tanev is on a 39 pt pace, FWIW.

My guess is you might see Little on the wing or centering the 4th line
Agree. Maurice has used Little on the 4th line before, when Stastny was on the team. He'll almost certainly start Little in a 4th line role when Little first comes back to ease him into the lineup. A C group of Scheifele, Wheeler, Lowry and Little would be one of the best / deepest in the NHL. I could see little eventually moving to RW, maybe with Copp and Lowry.

You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me?

 Just pointed out early on that we hadn't played any good teams yet. Now we have. Turns out it is the bad teams we have trouble with.

Ha ha, I don’t recall who was saying it back then but yeah, bring on the good teams! Those darn trash teams are tough for us.

Well, from their POV it is an easy yes.

Maybe KC is overachieving, but he seems to do that consistently, so who cares? Achievement is achievement.

14 G, 31 pts in 33 games, after a slow start due to missed TC. Yeah, we are going to trade him for Ghost straight up. Suuuure we are. :sarcasm:

31 G as a rookie, followed by 34 G and on pace for 35 this year. They can keep Ghost. We will take Couturier.

Actually we are in 3rd according to NHL.com and we have a game in hand on Dallas . :teach: :snide:
And we are THE BEST TEAM IN CANADA !!! Put that in your pipe and smoke it TORONTO , Sportsnet and TSN .:neener:

Yes I know we are in 3rd and we have a game in hand on Dallas.

I think you missed something in my post. :) We would be 1st in the Pacific. Dallas would also be 1st in the Pacific even though they are actually in the 1st WC spot.

See my post above about the loss to Detroit the other night...but I hope you won't let those facts interfere with your false narrative. ;)

After filtering on Post Game Talk threads, I will note that we had more pages early in the season but it has been slowing down.

Here is my narrative spin:

Jets were expected to have a miserable year, very unlikely to make the playoffs. It was an exciting opportunity for those that like to hate on our coach and GM.

Given their success to date and Maurice getting public recognition for his work, the naysayers have written off this year as unsalvageable and we are now getting less overall thread activity despite the exciting play of our team.

It’s good that we have finally won back our forums (though less interesting for those that like to argue).

I really think that pass was a smart play there. Elliot was pretty square to Laine. Laine determined a successful pass across to Scheifele would be a better chance to score than him trying to pick a corner there.

Watching the replay, it also looks like Elliot has the angle to cut off Laine's backhand option as well. Laine was already in too deep for a really good shot. If that pass gets through, it was almost a sure goal. Or if it doesn't get through, as it turned out.

We have three lines that I love to watch for different reasons now.

First line, when the three of them are attacking on the rush, they just look incredible and in the O zone, they control the boards and find so many great opportunities.

Second line, Wheeler has become a very good center. His ability and Ehlers' and Roslovic's speed and agility just give the opposition fits. It's amazing to watch.

Third line , I would love this line to be able to score more, but they are a treat to watch. The way that they are so dangerous breaking up plays in both ends and making something out of nothing is so fun to watch. I hope MP is able to come back right away, he helps that line a lot.

Once we get some players back or free up some cap space, we can improve the fourth line.

Adding in the surprise of Pionk and Helle returning to form, the team is extremely fun to watch.

We don't need either of those things for the 4th line while we have Appleton and Chibisov in the A.

I think it's more likely that there's just more to talk about early in the season - everything is up in the air: new players to talk about, discussions about what the team is doing differently, what seems to be working/not-working. Some extra discussion will be generated when the team is losing - because there's a strong impulse by some to identify the problems and maybe propose some solutions (e.g. fire that f***er Maurice, trade lazy-ass Laine and Hellesuck, etc.)...and vent.

Anyway, a lot of those early-season unsettled questions have been resolved one way or another, and the team has been winning...which always settles people down.

That along with using Buff's cap space would really help an already good team.

I still think Little packs it in and if he does who’d blame him.
The Jets made Philadelphia pay and Elliot was terrible as well.
All in all very entertaining game.

You don’t have to be polite with me, Morty.

Yeah, that wasn’t a good spin. Hard to keep things juicy when all is well with the team.

There are certainly critical posters here. But I don't believe they lose interest in the team if it is winning. Neither Maurice nor Chevy is perfect, so they are not above criticism though.

Personally, I try to resist criticizing either on specific things done or not done. I don't always succeed in that, but I try. The real indicator of how well they are doing their respective jobs is in the roster, the lineup and the standings. So all criticism has to be evaluated in that light. It is pretty hard to criticize either right now, although their are still a few nits to pick, if I was so inclined.

We also have some posters who seem to want nothing but positivity here. Would this site even exist if that was what we did here?
I love hockey. I love Jets. Jets are wonderful. Go Jets go. Yay! That pretty much says it all.

We are all Jets fans here. We all want to bask in their success. I don't believe anyone here wants the Jets to fail just so they can be seen as correct in their criticisms of Maurice and Chevy.

I do like divergent opinions because a good, heated discussion is much more fun than everyone being on the same page.

I will confess a trick of mine. I am usually pro-coach/pro-management. They are professionals and should know a heckuva lot more than me and everyone else here. When a controversial (by our forum standards) decision is made, I try to understand the coach/GM’s reasoning for it and give them the benefit of the doubt. Supplanting my own much less educated opinion on it is excessively foolish. It’s why I am right 95% of the time because I often parrot what the coach/GM say/do.

There are small exceptions (I also wanted Wheeler on a different line for awhile), as there should be, but if you are frequently disagreeing with our coach/GM, you aren’t on solid grounding unless they have a proven track record of excessive blundering.

I do think some people like their opinions validated even at the expense of team success. Am I being too cynical?

Did a small compilation on another thread. Jets record versus the top 10, mid 10 and low 10 teams based on win%:

vs Top 10: 4-6-1
vs Mid 10: 6-1-0
vs Low 10: 10-4-1

Best team we have beat is Dallas (9th overall). We are feasting on the mediocre and dregs of the league but have yet to defeat a true top contender.

That play on the PP with Roslovic cross crease pass to Copp and Copp making a one touch pass across the grain and across the crease to Lowry with Lowry directing it one touch towards the open net and hitting the post is probably one of the nicest plays I have seen Copp and Lowry create.

We were due for a big PP night. There should be secondary discipline for Farabee although considering how his actions cost his team and his icetime being cut by his coach, he will likely think twice now about making a late hit again.
