what McIntyre should have asked was well then why don't you just put laine wth 1 of scheifele or wheeler instead of both. might just fix the problems with both lines.

Maurice would have had some bull**** "underlying numbers" for that too.

The underlying number of times Scheifele and Wheeler have said that they prefer to play with Connor?

I don't see how Laine can have meaningful "underlying numbers" with those two, considering they only played together for what, a game or two?

Not to mention that if Maurice was concerned with underlying numbers, he would have already split up Scheifele and Wheeler, at least for a look.

2 separate opposing team's fans have come on our post game thread and said their team played the best game of the season. I've never seen that happen before. Kinda makes the loss a bit more palatable.

The game really reminded me of the losses against Vegas last year. One mistake (Buff's / or Helle's- vs. VGK) can change the momentum ultimately leading to a loss.

The one nagging fear that just won't go away is our #7 d man from last season now plays regular top 4 minutes and match ups.

I see my busy schedule came at a good time of year.

Have not watched a game since the beginning of Jan.

And have sorta missed this place.....Sorta.

What disappoints me is Joe Morrow is a placeholder at best. We should have been rotating Morrow and Niku since Sami really started to play well in his last set of games. I mean WTF they did this exact thing with the 4th line playing the unit hoping they would grow to be a solid unit by the playoffs.

Why not see how Niku grows he is not worse than Morrow now and Morrow doesn’t need the reps to be Ready for the seven spot? It’s a lost development opportunity because we might need Sami to beat the speed forecheck teams in the playoffs.
and this is the part where Maurice is stubborn. he almost never rotates. doesn't rotate goalies well. doesn't rotate bench in well, doesn't rotate press box core well. he likes "safe and steady".
Morrow gives nothing on D. just holds minutes and is, more or less, a net neutral.
imagine playing 6 guys on D that were net neutrals.

Niku was looking very good. i won't lie. so pair him with someone safe so minimize the negatives
